Whats the best way to dump someone?

How have you done it in the past?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:48, 9th January 2004:

I once left the country, It seemed to work quite well.
Posted by Rosie, 13:51, 9th January 2004:

A bit dramatic maybe.

How about the old, "lets still be friends" thing? Does it ever work out?
Posted by Sul, 14:04, 9th January 2004:

It worked out ok in 'Friends'.

The just friends thing can usually come across as a bigger slap in the face than just saying "fuck off" unless the other party is already thinking the same thing.

If they aren't they can often use it as an excuse for the "if I hang around, they'll realise how great we were and change their mind again." It isn't always a solution.

Sometimes it's better to be blunt, ie "Oi, pee-wee! Get lost! You don't do it for me!"

Lets be friends translates as PFO. Trust me on this.
Posted by Grim..., 14:11, 9th January 2004:

Lets be friends sucks.

Are you dumping the bloke we don't like, Rosie?
Posted by Sul, 14:12, 9th January 2004:

please fuck off?
Posted by Rosie, 14:15, 9th January 2004:

Yeah. I think I've made up my mind this time. I can't live like it anymore - he slept on the sofa again last night coz he was in a mood with me because I opened the front door to a stranger.

I still love him - but i can't live like it anymore. He has too many "issues".

I don't just wanna say fuck off though. I have been with the guy for about 6 years.

Its like getting rid of an old pair of trainers innit
Posted by Rosie, 14:18, 9th January 2004:

i suppose so!
Posted by cal, 14:21, 9th January 2004:

you could just start being he hideous that he eventually dumps you. all the good results, with none of the effort!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:23, 9th January 2004:

Yep
Posted by Grim..., 14:24, 9th January 2004:

Come and sleep with me and then he'll leave you.

Win / Win!

Apparantly, the sandwich effect is supposed to be good, read it somewhere ages ago.

Fred, you really are a great guy with a good sense of humour, well you try hard.

But you are useless in bed and you always leave ur underpants on the headboard, it really annoys me. So I have had enough, please dont call me anymore and btw I have changed the locks on my mansion.

Dont stop trying, you are lovable enough to find someone more suitable for your character.

Ciao

I can't even sit down with him and talk about stuff coz he starts to throw a tantrum if he hears things he don't like.

Maybe I'll just pack up his stuff into cardboard boxes and leave them outside the front door!
Posted by Sul, 14:29, 9th January 2004:

Friday: Wow you're right. I'd have been fooled by that.

I'm used to filtering out bad stuff that I read about myself. Its boring.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 14:31, 9th January 2004:

Sit him down, explain why you are dumping him. If he takes the hump then say, this is exactly what I am trying to talk to you about..NOW FUCK OFF.
Posted by Rosie, 14:33, 9th January 2004:

I might do a bit of what friday suggested and then a bit of what foghorn suggested.

I'll let you know how it goes.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 14:33, 9th January 2004:

Keep it simple. You're a gimp. We're breaking up. You have issues and may need psychiatric help. I want you gone by next weekend. If not I change the locks. Then I'll phone the police. Buuuyeeeeeeee (say this like Snake from the Simpsons)
Posted by Victor Menendez, 14:34, 9th January 2004:

Welcome to Dumpsville, Population: you.
Posted by ilovebeerme, 14:34, 9th January 2004:

ta. i hope i don't shit out of it.

Tell him you've decided you are trapped in a female body and want desperately to be a man so you've started consultations with a clinic in Amsterdam about gender re-assignment. You understand that this can be difficult but you really want to stay partners with him as long as he doesn't mind the fact that you'll be a man. Then bugger off for a couple of days. Come back with your boobs tapped down a hotdog strapped to your leg and ask him to call you Kev.

ILBM that is excellent!
Posted by ilovebeerme, 14:43, 9th January 2004:

There you go an address and everything! Just get a couple of official looking letters sent over by Miki and he'll be gone faster than sul in a pub with no draft Stella.
Posted by Rosie, 14:53, 9th January 2004:

The final nail in the coffin is that I've just been informed via a text msg that he has shaved all his hair off.

:(
Posted by Miki, 14:57, 9th January 2004:

you could volunteer to shave his private parts to match ?
Posted by Rosie, 15:01, 9th January 2004:

ha!

I think thats pushed me over the edge! i dread to think what he looks like now.

Oh Crumbs.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:06, 9th January 2004:

A bullet? (what he will look like shaved)
Posted by gobbo, 21:10, 9th January 2004:

"A bullet?"

Hahaha! I think that would be a constructive way to "delete" him from Rosies life :D
Posted by angeldelight, 21:44, 9th January 2004:

tell him you want to get married asap, be a stay at home mum of 7 and wear leggings and watch trisha. he shld be gone like a rat up a drainpipe
Posted by jeffld, 01:43, 10th January 2004:

I would like to recommend to just be honest and not drag it out. If you aren't happy with him just tell him.

I have lots of experience being dumped and dumping and I feel just making a clean break is the best.
