It was great!
Posted by Miki, 14:43, 13th January 2004:

nice to have you back mister earthworm, how are you and your lady ?

I'm quiet cos I'm on a course to learn to think object orientedly, wish they'd let me choose the objects :S Plus I gotto leave early to go to an Oracle Install Party.
How pathetic am I ?!
Never mind answering that, the answer is right here:
kleiner = 3.5555555555555554 overig = 8.0
thats hardly the worst, the worst is I was completely happy to see that line!

Posted by earthworm, 14:45, 13th January 2004:

Posted by Rosie, 14:47, 13th January 2004:

They showed films and photos of the biggest explosions in the world. They also showed how they explode an atom bomb above the ground for greater impact. It was really interesting.
Posted by Miki, 14:58, 13th January 2004:

I'm all good, thanks :)

I think you last posted before the wedding, anyway congratulations to you and Sarah and it sounds like you're happy :)

Posted by generationgav, 15:24, 13th January 2004:

Damn...I missed the program about explosions....it sounds like it was great!

PS. J2EE is probably the worst programming language I can imagine.

How are the rats? One of mine is very ill at the moment
:( . She was the runt of the litter and has had a stroke, so she runs in circles a lot and has lost a bit of weight. It's great though she just curls up on you knee like a cat these days and sleeps.

Rats rock.
Posted by Brock, 16:24, 13th January 2004:

Like Roland Rat.

Yeeeaaaahhh... Rat fans!
Posted by Rosie, 16:41, 13th January 2004:

Rats are horrid.

Especially uninvited ones that nibble chocolate digestives right by your head in the middle of the night and wake you up.

Bah!
Posted by earthworm, 16:43, 13th January 2004:

The rats are cool at the mo. We bought them a MASSIVE cage not so long ago and they love it... We give them steak every weekend and cheerios as a treat...

4 of them (brothers) are red eye, champagne rats and the older one (not a brother) is a red eye champagne hooded rat...

J2EE isn't a programming language. it's a platform/framework. java is a programming language.

real men program in assembler.
Posted by Miki, 20:09, 13th January 2004:

I'm not a man :D I program in Oracle, just trying out something new :)
Posted by generationgav, 00:20, 14th January 2004:

Well whatever Java, JSP and TomCat is!
I think its TomCats xml files (where EVERYTHING has to be in the correct order...so not even xml) where the real problem lies...
Posted by ilovebeerme, 09:08, 14th January 2004:

Heh heh, mine love cheerios too. One of them won't touch meat though! She's a bit weird. The ill one is solid black with a white stomach, although she is going brown in patches and thining a bit! Her sister is all brown and rather rotund. We have a big cage for them too, about 4 ft square and 6 feet tall. They can't get around it quite as they used to but still love it. I think we're going to give t a rest on the rat front after these guys.....for a while anyway.

iamcal: mocmocmocmoc - Her sister is all brown and rather rotund.

Posted by Sul, 17:27, 14th January 2004:

"iamcal: mocmocmocmoc - Her sister is all brown and rather rotund." = "I call for a new strapline young sir - Her sister is all brown and rather rotound"

Right? Or have I missed something?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 17:28, 14th January 2004:

I dont see mocmocmocmoc...eh?
Posted by Brock, 17:53, 14th January 2004:

Are you canadian, Foggie?
Posted by Liandle, 18:04, 14th January 2004:

Cal, could you please explain this mocmoc...thing to me please? It's driving me nuts.
Posted by Brock, 18:23, 14th January 2004:

I've got a steering wheel on my pants that does that... arf
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 19:21, 14th January 2004:

Yes, well done Sul! Although I went ahead and did it anyway;

Oh!
Posted by cal, 20:34, 14th January 2004:

liandle: "doctor lucid" is also sometimes knows as "uncle moc". he was just suggesting a new strapline (the subtitle for the site - it changes from time to time)

Thanks Cal :-) 'faid when it comes to computers I am an infant. It's like a two year old "what's this?" "why's that?" you guys must be fed up with it by now. Programmers/IT people are really quite strange and interesting animals. From the viewpoint of a "user" - what I think you call us - (It's like something sub-human isn't it?) You guys can be very intimidating indeed. It's like, "Ma'am, is the computer ON?" One gets made to feel very stupid sometimes. One can feel the withering tone all the way down the phone line. My ear even starts to twitch because it gets the vibe first.
Posted by gobbo, 11:55, 15th January 2004:

The trouble is, sometimes people ARE that stupid! :D

*not aimed at you Liandle, and hi by the way! :D *

brock, no mate I am Scottish.
Posted by Miki, 12:16, 15th January 2004:

I kinda thought he meant the 'eh?' at the end of your sentence and made a joke
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 12:17, 15th January 2004:

oh, so someone who says 'eh' is obviously canadian? I dont get it.
Posted by Miki, 12:22, 15th January 2004:

tis apparently how they talk eh
I wouldn't know, I have never met any Canadian people
also, I might be completely wrong!
Posted by Victor Menendez, 12:22, 15th January 2004:

What's that all aboot?
Posted by Miki, 12:24, 15th January 2004:

hehehe

Posted by Brock, 13:34, 15th January 2004:

Had a canadian guy work for me a few years back, and he told me that the "eh" at the end of every sentence is the Americans standard stereotypical perception of how canadians talk, and constantly take the piss out of them about it. For an example, watch the Disney film "Brother Bear", the 2 Moose say "eh" at the end of nearly everything, and Moose, are (fairly obviously) Canadian. I think South Park may have done it a few times too. the aboot thing was done in a "Terence and Phillip" thing I think as well, cos they are all supposed to say that too. Was it South Park the movie?

It's much the same as the 'gag' that Irish people are supposed to say "so it is" or " to be sure" after everything, even though they actually don't.

Any clearer?
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:35, 15th January 2004:

My boss is Irish and he does say that.

(another theory successfully torpedoed)
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:37, 15th January 2004:

People from Edinburgh say 'eh' a lot.
Posted by Brock, 13:39, 15th January 2004:

Fair enough, but is he the Irish People, or an Irish person... (picky, picky!) ;)
Posted by ilovebeerme, 13:47, 15th January 2004:

eh?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 13:48, 15th January 2004:

He is, of course, the entire Irish people.
Posted by Brock, 13:53, 15th January 2004:

My mistake, then, old boy. I am currently beating the soles of my feet with birch twigs by way of penance.

Then, I shall walk across broken glass to my book of stereotypes, and change the Irish entry accordingly.

He must have a big office...
Posted by Victor Menendez, 13:54, 15th January 2004:

Nah, don't worry, it's a common mistake, happens all the time.

Nice contrived gag, by the way, Foggie.

many many moons ago i worked in a call centre and am therefore surpremely qualified to confirm the following:
welsh people say 'is it'. i.e "so i gots to get off my fat arse and pay my own mortgage now, is it?"
irish people say 'will i'. "so i send you a cheque then now, will i"
scottish people were often just indecipherable
english people were often just abusive
