I have entered myself in a speech contest on 29 Jan and have been given three choices of speech. Cant decide which one to do, so please help me decide which one!
a) DEBATE - Should sex education be taught in schools.
b) IMAGINATION - A day in the life of ...
c) RESEARCH - AIDS in Europe
I quite like the imaginative one, but still cant decide...

Id say imagination. A day in the life of a shop window. Talking of the interesting people and events that pass you by.

sex education in schools.. then you can sort of include some of the AIDs stuff in your debate. Plus debating is always good for getting material as you have to look at both sides objectively.
But if you want a challenge then i'd go for the imagination one, you could do a lot with that
i have no idea what you could do but i'm sure its a lot
Why don't you do a debate and try to convince those lousy African's to pay back their goddamn debts!

B seems the easy option....

I think B is also an easier option for a first speech contest!
I dont think I could do a debate, not yet - I am however, in training for it....!
So, a day in the life of what (shop window nice Sul, I like that idea)

day in the life of a tramp? you could sing excerpts from sul's musical?
a day in the life of a bigot?
a day in the life of Harold Shipman.. oh, he's dead..
a day in the life of a kitty
a receptionists phone
a bus/train
palace guard ("stood still, stood still some more, damn, got an itchy nose, keep still..etc")
do a debate!!

I'd probably do A. Because there are neat opposing viewpoints - the "it's important that kids know about sex so they don't rush in to sex that they may not enjoy or that will be unhealthy for them", then there is the "sex education is the preserve of the family, schools' remit is academic education only", and then there is the "teach it unless parents opt their kids out of it", and the traditional apathy vote (I couldn't care less, for example).

Oooooh talk about how being white is much better than being black
Disclaimer: This is obviously a joke mocking racism itself on the basis of where Friday lives not a truthful view held by me or a voice for anyone else on this site. Thankyou for your time.

i say you do a day in the life of an AIDS infected european who should've paid more attention in sex ed at school.
you've covered all your bases then.
PS: why didn't you make this a voting page?

Friday apologies for not replying to you before I was too busy chatting up Sul :-) You said you are in Malawi. Which city in Malawi? Also to comment further on Sul's racial comment. Are you black or white? I thought you might be black because you chose the name Friday as in Robinson Crusoe's (scuse sp. illiterate blob) Friday. I am a white South African so you probably think I am a racist. But it's not black and white like that is it?

Friday is a pretty white lady. There is a picture of her somewhere.

Why not do a day in the life of someone else who is imagining what a day in the life of someone else would be like ?
A prisoner imagining what life would be like if they had not done the crime.
A woman imagining a day in the life of a man.
A person imagining the life of an animal.
But structure it so that you don't reveal until the very end that it isn't 'you', it's another person.

Well, that's really Podz's idea, so you'll have to imagine a day in the life of podz imagining what life would be like for a prisoner imagining what life would be like if they had not done the crime.
:o)
But of course, that's my idea, so you'll have to imagine what it would be like to be me imagining i was podz imagining what life would be like for a prisoner imagining what life would be like if they had not done the crime.
:oD
How's your head doing brock?
