This is a read-only copy. The forum ran on iamcal.com from 2000 until its database was lost in 2016, and this topic was rebuilt from copies saved by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Some replies may be missing.

Abe GET IN THERE with your old screen name, it seems weird not seeing Vic's name alongside his hilarious comments

;-)

Rosie, this is no attempt to flirt with your man BTW

I also looked at flickr.com. It is a very cool site.

It's hard to believe that "The idea for Flickr occurred in November 2003"

Nice use of CSS.

started building it in december.

the css column is actually in the process of being replaced by tables. css just isn't ready for proper use yet :(

That is too bad. I really like the idea of CSS. I actually am just learning it myself.

If you looked at the main page on my web server you can see it is quite a mess because I jumped in head first without knowing what I was doing. Maybe a certian book by Makiko Itoh will help straighten me out. I just got the book last week.

First sentence of page 22.

"Due to the need to create pages that display the same way in version 4 browsers as well as current version 5 and later browsers, in real-life situations designers are forced to use table-based layouts."

i liked the idea of CSS too... but as Cal said, the world just isn't ready :)

say hello to george - flickr designer ;)

jeffld: that book's quite dated now (especially the css parts). i'd take a look at css zen garden and wait for eric's new book

(hello george)

Internet years fly by so much faster than real years.

Thanks Cal, I'll check those out.
