If you're on campus over the next few days, you might want to know, we're staging a motherfucking takeover in support of my new campaign: "Devolution for LE2". You're very welcome to help us overthrow the fascist overlords who want to oppose self-determined control for a small, fairly uninteresting, area of Leicester. ;D

It must be a pain in the arse living near students.

They're not too bad. Pensioners are worse.

Oh god tell me about it. I have the most annoying neighbour. Im scared to leave my flat incase he's mounted an ambush and grabs me for a chat when I pass his door.
Posted by Brock, 15:15, 14th February 2004:

The guy in the downstairs flat from me is always (seemingly) standing out on the landing, and you feel so rude just pushing past, so I feel obliged to chat for a bit every time. It's amazing how quickly the ability to produce inane light and meaningless conversation grates on you after a while. There's no point trying to draw him to anything substantive either, as it is then harder to break away from when you're bored!! Must make a note to kill myself before I get old and tedious...

You could have a topic list and post it in a communal place therefore you'll never be stuck for what to talk about. Here's a typical week:

Monday: the meaning of life, beer, art, philosophy.
Tuesday: Premier League football, MJ, electrical engineering.
Wednesday: local politics, metaphysical imagery in modern poetry.
Thursday: the European Union Cheese Preference Monitoring Service, gambling with one's firstborn.
Friday: macroeconomic trends, the current laws on taxation.
Saturday: what you did and didn't like about the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Sunday: tits, booty, sweet boobies, bitches.

And if they try to talk about the wrong thing on a certain day, you could get in a big huff and say "it's not the right day! it's not the right day!" then kill them in a fit of rage. You might even be able to persuade the judge that it's only manslaughter.

I find that bumping into people I know on the bus to work is a pain. I don't want to talk on the bus, I want to listen to some music. I often see some friends of my daughter's on the bus and I never sit next to them or try to engage them in conversation, cos I'm sure they want to talk to me as much as I do to them. I just say, 'Hi' and find a seat elsewhere. I hope they don't think I'm being rude, cos all I'm really want is to do us both a favour.

i'm sure they dont WH. sorry but i cant think of anything worse than having to talk to my mates dad in a confined space!

i am also of the neighbour-dodging kind. so much so that i stood at the door of my flat for 1/2 hr the other day waiting for the voices on the landing to disperse. cant bear cringey small talk with ppl i'm completely not interested in

yes i know this is horrid and i'll probably be the complete opposite when i'm 83

I miss old LE2. I now currently reside in the pikey abyss that is LE3. If one more chav cunt tells me to 'get a haircut', I'll get all stabby.

The beard man from JBS must be LE2's leader though.

I cut a big chunk out of it on saturday whilst in a druken stupour with someone's nosehair clippers. Nobody has noticed yet.

mmm JBS.. how i miss you JBS... all those expensive adventures in curry until i got poor and went to the vegetarian indian place where you can get an aloo gobi for like £1.20.
I've not been able to stomach any sort of curry since i left :(
Posted by Brock, 13:58, 16th February 2004:

Curry is evil.

Any food that makes you sweat has to be bad, in my book...

Curry is possibly the best foodstuff ever invented by mankind.

I will disagree totally until the day that Hob-Nobs and Monster Munch cease to exist.

hello Jeff!

'lo dandog! I think that pickled onion monster munch are amazing.. except they became a bit too artificially sweet when they changed the packaging (i can almost remember the day, i was 13, went to my local garage especially to buy some, i was devastated).
Curry reminds me too much of leicester, and that's a bad thing..

That looks like one of the most disgusting things ever. The Pickled Onion Monster Munch kick butt though. Hmm, I'm pretty tempted to go and buy some actually.
Posted by angeldelight, 14:56, 16th February 2004:

my boyfriend was in the army and i used to have to send him 'comfort boxes' of pickled onion monster munch when he was away. he moaned if i didnt include the stickers from the multipacks
Posted by jeff, 15:08, 16th February 2004:

it does look gross. i keep imagining vanilla ice cream flavour chewitts (god i love chewitts, but i dont want this to become a sweetie nostalgia thread) but with the texture of monstermunch and slightly salty... and it does make me feel sick.
they don't even list them on the walkers website, i feel they're embarrassed.
Posted by arsepuppy, 15:12, 16th February 2004:

They're not salty at all. Very vanilla-ey. I think my dislike for them is psychological. It's not what they taste like, it's the fact they're monster munch and *shouldn't* taste like that.
Posted by jeff, 15:14, 16th February 2004:

but crisps that aren't salty? wierd. you're right, they shouldnt taste like that
Posted by angeldelight, 15:17, 16th February 2004:

An ideological dislike for Vanilla Monster Munch. Whatever will we discuss now?
