"Look at me i'm the first woman captain"
Posted by Perclissigi, 13:47, 4th March 2004:

That's about all she had going for her.
Isn't it weird that the first woman captain came after
the first black captain?
Posted by Perclissigi, 13:47, 4th March 2004:

(If you count the guy in charge of DS9)
Posted by Uma, 13:52, 4th March 2004:

Oh, look. Sul changed himself into Picard just for me. I'm flattered. I liked her, except she had that squeaky voice which was irritating.
Posted by Uma, 13:55, 4th March 2004:

That's not weird, Perci, black is more PC than feminism
Posted by Perclissigi, 13:57, 4th March 2004:

Hmmm...
Its just that in history, Womens Liberation came before Racial Equality,
you would assume that popular culture would follow a similar trend... maybe?
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:57, 4th March 2004:

There's a hierarchy?!?
Posted by arsepuppy, 13:58, 4th March 2004:

They should've had Floella Benjamin as a captain. Two birds with one stone...
Posted by Perclissigi, 13:58, 4th March 2004:

Noooo, just, the order things happened in...
Posted by Uma, 14:03, 4th March 2004:

For example...there may well be a black male president of the United States one day, there will never be a female president

You think? hmmm.....
Posted by Brock, 14:06, 4th March 2004:

Cos lets be honest, it took ages for people to realise that colour makes no difference. But, come on. As if a women could work something as complicated as a Galaxy Class Starship. They struggle with cars, ffs. They let one in the space shuttle, and she blew that up straight away.

Yeah but to be fair, A black enterprise captain might be tempted to paint the enterprise purple, kit the chairs out in leopard-skin and prance around in a huge amount of gold chains and a seven inch pair of platform shoes with goldfish in the heels.

Why won't they ever have a woman president?

There was a woman prime minister over here. Although she was only female by default.
Posted by Uma, 19:07, 4th March 2004:

There you answered your own question...
Posted by Abe Frohman, 19:13, 4th March 2004:

Old Hilary has a decent chance.
Posted by Uma, 19:15, 4th March 2004:

Nope...
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 19:20, 4th March 2004:

Yeah, but just becase Maggie was a cock-smoking psycho, doesn't mean that a woman could never be in power.

I mean, the Conservative Party has had a woman, followed by a dull man, followed by an embryo, followed by a quiet man, and now an immigrant jew, as their leader. So anything's really possible.

I mean, if the 'electorate' on this site are anything to go by, she'd just have to flash some breasts and everyone would approve her.
Posted by Uma, 19:23, 4th March 2004:

...s'all we got
Posted by Doctor Lucid, 21:17, 4th March 2004:

No, there's always another couple of political parties vying for the top spot.
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:13, 5th March 2004:

Wasn't the "John Major = Dull Man" purely a media creation though, disproved by the Edwina Currie "scandal"?
Posted by arsepuppy, 11:14, 5th March 2004:

(and I think Hilary's got a good chance too)
Posted by Brock, 11:16, 5th March 2004:

Getting laid doesn't stop you being dull. If it was that easy, I would have had periods in my life when I wasn't dull, obviously. Hence, untrue.

'Hoi' .. you know what it means WarHead.
Posted by WarHead, 12:42, 5th March 2004:

Actually, it wasn't 'regular' semolina, it was something called Cremola which was like semolina, but a kinda yellow colour. I used to like it well cooked with a skin like leather on top. Nice and chewy.
Posted by Perclissigi, 12:43, 5th March 2004:

I know the stuff, i used to eat the both a few years back.
Cremola comes in a dodgy brown pack.
Posted by WarHead, 12:44, 5th March 2004:

Blimey, do they still make it. I must get some. 'twill bring back happy memories while I contemplate looking up Uma's bum for a pic.
Posted by Perclissigi, 12:45, 5th March 2004:

Yup (you weren't here when we had the great 'Guess Warhead's Age Competition' during which I described a number of things, including my diet, which largely consists of cereal and fruit juice for brekky, a napple, a norange [or a greatfruip] and a nana for me lunch, and whatever takes me fancy for my evening meal).

That must cause havoc with your music writing if your heart keeps missing a beat.

You must end up with some weird, Dave Brubeck kind of jazz number that makes people who listen to it keep falling over when they try and tap their feet along with it...
