"Ok, so i've just found out i've lost my job... "

I am so tempted to put "that was careless, can you remember where you last saw it"

but that would be mean.

Don't know about new jobs but if i was you I'd ask cal if that company he is at need an in-house musician, cos that Canada place looks very nice.

What a bastard - not you Perc. Just what you need on a Friday afternoon.
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:32, 5th March 2004:

It's cool, the main problem is that i still have to study, so i need part time work, that
pays around £90 a week, just to get me by.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:33, 5th March 2004:

Get another bar job.
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:34, 5th March 2004:

Hmmm, i guess. But i've been fired from this one, so references aren't gonna
be great are they?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:34, 5th March 2004:

Why did you get fired?
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:35, 5th March 2004:

This bottle of vodka in my room is now looking attractive...
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:36, 5th March 2004:

I called in sick on a sunday, they didn't believe me and gave me a hard time.
So when i was still ill on monday, i didn't bother calling, and i just called
and said "so am i still working tonight" they said "no, you are not working tonight
and can we have our shirts back please?"
Posted by Uma, 15:37, 5th March 2004:

They can't just fire you!
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:37, 5th March 2004:

They just did.
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:40, 5th March 2004:

Sooooo, if anyone has any good ideas?
Posted by RUSS, 15:40, 5th March 2004:

i make them right, i bet you wasn't really sick
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:41, 5th March 2004:

Yeah, get off yer arse and find a new job.
Posted by donnie, 15:41, 5th March 2004:

No, they can't do that at all - did you have to sign a contract to work there?

I'm an ex bar and restaurant manager, and had to do all contracts and appraisals.
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:42, 5th March 2004:

Unforts not...
and i was actually ill, fucking proper migrane, i could hardly get out
of bed, let alone work 5 hours behind a busy bar.
Posted by donnie, 15:42, 5th March 2004:

was it cash in hand?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:44, 5th March 2004:

No contract = Not a leg to stand on. (Nae luck)
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:44, 5th March 2004:

No, they had an accountant for tax and stuff,
just didn't have a contract
Posted by angeldelight, 15:45, 5th March 2004:

"Sooooo, if anyone has any good ideas?"

well i just got an email from speeddater.co.uk
they've just started doing sugar daddy and toyboy nights...
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:45, 5th March 2004:

great, but how does that help Perci?
Posted by angeldelight, 15:46, 5th March 2004:

an employee is entitled to a contract of employment in writing within 90 days of start of job. there are rules as to what particulars it must include
Posted by RUSS, 15:46, 5th March 2004:

tip....... go to work no matter how shit you feel, if you are really ill then the boss will send you home, then you call in sick the next day and they belive you.
Posted by Perclissigi, 15:46, 5th March 2004:

i don't think i had that job for 90 days...
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 15:47, 5th March 2004:

Posted by Perclissigi, 15:47, 5th March 2004:

Posted by Perclissigi, 15:49, 5th March 2004:

I would rather do something like part time office work, that pays twice as much
as bar work, and i can do it standing on my head.
Posted by angeldelight, 15:49, 5th March 2004:

Posted by Abe Frohman, 16:00, 5th March 2004:

How can you not DJ yet?
Have you had your DJ permit revoked?
Have you perforated an eardrum?
Have you an inadequate supply of fosters?
Have you got a job involving Hoooooge Turbochargers?

Posted by Perclissigi, 16:51, 5th March 2004:

Hehehe, who on here would like to be my reference?!
Posted by Uma, 16:52, 5th March 2004:

Kinda unlicensed pub thingy, IIRC
Posted by Perclissigi, 16:55, 5th March 2004:

wasn't he assissinated?
Posted by WarHead, 16:56, 5th March 2004:

Exactly - so it's hard to prove that you didn't. QED
Posted by Uma, 16:57, 5th March 2004:

Like 'pub' started out as places black people would gather socially in the townships, but now, post-apartheid, it's just ever so trendy-lefty to go to them
Posted by Perclissigi, 16:57, 5th March 2004:

hahaha
Posted by Uma, 16:58, 5th March 2004:

...but they *do* have a great atmosphere
Posted by Alfie, 18:24, 5th March 2004:

shebean?

isnt that an intimate part of the female anatomy?
as in "flicking the old shebean"
Posted by Perclissigi, 18:25, 5th March 2004:

Alfie you are terrible.
Posted by Alfie, 18:46, 5th March 2004:

Posted by Uma, 18:58, 5th March 2004:

Posted by ell, 20:12, 5th March 2004:

Oooh, I'm from near Guildford, where did you work Perclissigi?

Bar Zuka and especially the Weatherspoons are always hiring bar staff, try asking in those 2 during the day.
Posted by Perclissigi, 20:16, 5th March 2004:

I would tell you where i live, but then someone could track me down...
I worked at a pub ih the town where i live, but i go to ACM (above 'spoons)
and i'm in spoons every day, so wonldn't want to work there, but zuka might be a
laugh, i'm moving into guildford in sept anyways, so now would be as
good a time as any :)
Posted by WarHead, 20:49, 5th March 2004:

Apropos nothing, we have an office in Guildford.
Posted by Brock, 20:52, 5th March 2004:

And if it helps, we don't. So at least you're safe from working at the hole that I do.
Posted by Perclissigi, 20:57, 10th March 2004:

Welllllll, Good news, i found another job, start on monday, working in a deli/catering place
in my home town. Very very very good food, all i want to eat, free lunch, better pay,
don't have to work evenings, and i can do my 18 hourss a week in 2 days, as opposed to 4 like i
did in the pub!
Losing that job was the best thing that ever happened to me!
But right now i'm going to bed..
(I know it's early but i was up all last night worrying about shit)
Posted by Brock, 21:13, 10th March 2004:

You don't want to worry about that. Trust me. Just flush the blighter.
Posted by WarHead, 21:40, 10th March 2004:

Yay - I love it when something good comes from something bad. Sounds like the ideal job, really, with all that free good food, since students are notorious for eating poorly.

Congrats.
Posted by Sul, 21:50, 10th March 2004:

Students eat badly?! I could put most students shame I'll have you know
Posted by Abe Frohman, 22:13, 10th March 2004:

Put most students shame where?
Posted by WarHead, 22:17, 10th March 2004:

They're messy eaters. Haven't you noticed. It's cos of all the drugs they take.
