Title: Douglas
Author: Coupland
Rating: 3/5

He's a bit like a banana. Quite easy to open, no real problems in the taking it in, and reasonably pleasant. But he's no grapefruit.

I didn't like 'Generation X'. Maybe i'm too British to enjoy a book where one of the characters is called 'Dag'

i'm currently reading "generation x". i loved "hey, nostrodamus". found "city of glass" useful

I have either read, or have in my possession and am about to read every Douglas Coupland book, i think.. Microserfs, Girlfriend in a coma and Hey! Nostradamus were probably the best ones for me..
I hate grapefruit :P but I do think that I should occasionally try and read something more challenging..

Only one I'm missing is Shampoo Planet, of the fictional non-japanese ones.

They're quite nice. Just not very satisfying.

And too much bloody redeption, cheesiness, et ketera. Dude.

But yeah, no, they're nice. The words fit together nicely. I don't really know what my problem is.

Perhaps I look for a book more like a grapefruit; you need to go at it with a knife, and it's going to be quite bitter.

Or something like that.

ah well doc at least you're allowed to read books written in the 20th and 21st centuries without being frowned upon nowadays..

Read: Generation X, Microserfs, Life After God, Miss Wyoming.
Got, but yet to read: All Families are Psychotic, Girlfriend in a Coma.

I have Microserfs and Generation X. Enjoyed Generation X and absolutely loved Microserfs, so much so I have since read it again and I hardly ever read books more than once!! It is definitely one of my favourite books in the history of ever!

Girlfriend in a Coma has a big cop out ending, which pretty much put me off Coupland for life.

Microserfs was good though

I think Microserfs is my least favourite. That big old cop-out ending, the gushing sentimentality, the Thatcherite free-marketeering... enough to make me boke out my internal organs.

Generation X is quite nice.
