Does anyone know of an ADSL provider that will give you a permanent IP address without saying "you must be a business if you want a permanent IP address so we'll charge you business rates" like everyone I've spoken to so far has said? I can be a geek without being a business.

Erm. No.

Glad to be of help.

(if it puts any of that advice into perspective, however, I generally speaking don't know jack shit when it comes to that sort of thing. Just thought I would reply cos no-one else had to make you feel wanted. Or something.)

freedom2surf give you a permanent IP (and you can buy extras if you want them). I use them at home, and they are cheap, reliable and not in any way connected to BT (well, any more than any other ADSL provider), which is good in my book. f2s.com is their url.
