I just passed my driving test! Woohoo! :D
Posted by Sul, 11:04, 7th April 2004:

Well Done
Posted by Brock, 11:18, 7th April 2004:

Quick! To McDonalds's car park, and turn your stereo up so high all the speakers distort. And stand there for no apparent reason till 3 in the morning trying to shag 12 year olds that are impressed by cars!

That's the normal form, isn't it?
Posted by Sul, 11:40, 7th April 2004:

Man I wish I had a car. You get your bollocks chopped off for trying to shag girls who are impressed by 18 gear mountain bikes.
Posted by Rosie, 11:49, 7th April 2004:

Congrats!

:D
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 12:33, 7th April 2004:

Well done Gary.
Posted by WarHead, 13:13, 7th April 2004:

Rosie, why are you congratulating Sul for getting his bollocks chopped off for trying to shag girls who are impressed by 18 gear mountain bikes?

Hmmmmm, EIGHTEEN GEAR mountain bike, eh, Sul. I'm impressed enough to let you shag ME.

Oh, and BTW, well done Gary.
Posted by Grim..., 13:45, 7th April 2004:

My mountain bike has 21 gears!

(Awaits joke about turbochargers...)
Posted by WarHead, 13:47, 7th April 2004:

Get in the queueueue.
Posted by WarHead, 13:49, 7th April 2004:

Have you got wheels then, Gary?
Posted by Brock, 13:56, 7th April 2004:

Nah. He just has the two legs.
Posted by Brock, 14:05, 7th April 2004:

Grim: No go, mate. Turbochargers just have the 2 wheels. You are on safe ground. Unless you had 10 and a half turbos.

Or something.
Posted by Alfie, 14:23, 7th April 2004:

ooh Brock and Grim... chatting about Turbochargers
should be fun.
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:25, 7th April 2004:

I though this thread was going to be about finally being able to urinate after a period of nothing. Oh well...

(Congrats, Gary!)
Posted by Brock, 14:31, 7th April 2004:

Alfie: Oooh. Sorry. Let's just talk geek, so you don't feel left out.
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 14:37, 7th April 2004:

oh oh, Alfie (Chay) I finally got to see 'Finding Nemo' the other night..wasnt that impressed, actually thought it was pretty crap.

He casts his line & ..
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:41, 7th April 2004:

I quite liked what I saw of it (fell asleep halfway through though)
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 14:43, 7th April 2004:

exactly..bored me too. Dont be scared to just come out and say that though AP. I know Chay can be rather scary sometimes but I am here to back you up. ;)
Posted by Sul, 14:45, 7th April 2004:

I thought it was OK but I was pissed and cant remember enough of it to make a sober decision.
Posted by Alfie, 14:45, 7th April 2004:

Brock: yeah cos talking about turbochargers isnt at all geeky.
raaaaah manly cars raaah ugg ugg
Posted by Alfie, 14:46, 7th April 2004:

Well I liked it
What do I care if you didn't?
Doesn't change my life.
Posted by Brock, 14:47, 7th April 2004:

They use Turbo's on all manner of stuff. Nobody mentioned cars, Mr Magoo.
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:49, 7th April 2004:

I was tanked on the the old Stella when I watched it too, Sul. Probably why I fell asleep.
Posted by Alfie, 14:49, 7th April 2004:

I think you'll find that Grim... used to fit turbo chargers and went off to do just that before deciding that he wanted to embrace his geekhood again.
Hence me mentioning cars.
Posted by Alfie, 14:50, 7th April 2004:

oh and you are a cock
Posted by Abe Frohman, 16:21, 7th April 2004:

That's right. I went to work for Ralliart but after a month they told me they weren't going to pay me as much as they said they would, and (handily) my old company offered me more money to come back, so I took my cheap (and hoooooooooooge) turbochargers (and other assorted parts) and left =]
Posted by Brock, 16:48, 7th April 2004:

Ralliart? Yuck. Muddy cars suck :(

Rallying's ok to watch, but not my cup of tea.
Posted by Alfie, 16:54, 7th April 2004:

I'd rather watch your cup of tea

and i dont even like tea
Posted by Alfie, 16:55, 7th April 2004:

or cups
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:55, 7th April 2004:

I went on a rally course in Oxfordshire somewhere...full day thing, was a great laugh kicking the arse out of their cars.
Posted by Alfie, 16:56, 7th April 2004:

or you
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:58, 7th April 2004:

no, I dont think I would enjoy kicking the arse out of me.

Dont be silly Chay!
Posted by Grim..., 17:20, 7th April 2004:

Quick point - Ralliart is the name of the Mitsubishi Tuning Service, not just their rally team.
Posted by Brock, 17:27, 7th April 2004:

Slightly incorrect sir. Mitsubishi Ralliart was the name of the WRC team that was entered up to 2003.

It is widely known as Ralliart in motorsport.
Posted by Grim..., 17:30, 7th April 2004:

Eh? That's what I said...

Posted by Grim..., 17:31, 7th April 2004:

Anyway, I worked for Mitsubishi Ralliart: Perfomance Tuning and Styling.

Although getting to play in the Rally car would have been top fun.
Posted by Brock, 17:35, 7th April 2004:

Hopefully you know where you work these days. Or your attendance may be a bit random...
Posted by Grim..., 17:36, 7th April 2004:

Nah, just my timekeeping that's random.

Helpfully, I work for the UK's #1 Time & Attendance Company... =]
Posted by Gary, 21:37, 7th April 2004:

Cheers, guys! :)

WarHead: I'm insured on my mum's car, so I'll use that for now until I get some wheels of my own, which should be soon.
Posted by WarHead, 22:18, 7th April 2004:

Hmm. I insured my son on the day he passed his test, which was about 2 days before me and the missus went to Majorca for a fortnight. On the first day he drove the thing solo he managed to prang a Volvo about 200 yards from our house. I mean, a fucking VOLVO. He might as well have hit a Centurian Tank. Credit where it's due, though, he had it all repaired by the time we got back.
Posted by Brock, 22:25, 7th April 2004:

One of my mates passed his test, drove from the test centre, in Oxford, to where he lived (about 10 miles). He then dropped his Dad off (who had gone with him to the test) and picked his brother up to take with him for his first solo drive.

You guessed it. Straight off the road, and written off between 2 trees, less than 3 hours after he passed! His brother broke his nose, so it wasn't all bad. He was a twat.
Posted by kaila, 23:20, 7th April 2004:

good job Gary, now all you need is a honda civic coupe, silver with ghost flames, 2.0L, NOS, rims (shiny), 3 subwolfers (made of bulletproof glass, leather and wood), 2 150 watt amps and a good CD (rap).
Posted by Brock, 23:22, 7th April 2004:

Surely a 1.2 boyed-up Nova is the BESTEST thing to have?

Actually, that may be confusing for kaila, as she is an American. I don't mean a Chevy Nova, I meant a Vauxhall Nova. Have a little google moment if you want to see one...
Posted by Brock, 23:30, 7th April 2004:

Try here for a bunch of sad twats.
Posted by kaila, 23:43, 7th April 2004:

holy fuck they are ugly as sin.

try these on for size. This is my dream car.

They are pretty damn fast. Dull for the driver though. They do all the fun, correcting/sliding bits with the electronics. What's the point of that?

Friend of mine had one. It was STOOOOOOOPIDLY fast. Bloody impressive.

Looks a bit of a cock extension though... Even for a girl LOL!
Posted by kaila, 23:50, 7th April 2004:

Every girl needs a little extra cock right? ;)
Posted by Brock, 23:53, 7th April 2004:

*snigger*
Posted by Grim..., 08:51, 8th April 2004:

Mmmmmmmmmm

I'm upset because mine is still at the menders and I'm driving around in a 1.3 Ford Focus =[
Posted by WarHead, 22:43, 8th April 2004:

The 'menders.' No one calls it the 'menders' these days, old bean.
Posted by tommorris, 18:21, 9th April 2004:

Talking of this sort of thing, I'm watching a rather strange music video about a girl taking a driving test. Hope you did better than her - her three-point turn was appalling.
Posted by WarHead, 19:49, 9th April 2004:

Pedant alert! Pedant alert!

It's officially called 'Turning in the road using forward and reverse gears.' And it doesn't matter how many 'points' there are in your maneuvre.
Posted by Gary, 20:19, 9th April 2004:

Hope you did better than her - her three-point turn was appalling.

My three-point turn was the best fucking three-point turn I'll probably ever do in my life! It was just pure perfection. Very narrow road, too. :D
Posted by Gary, 20:20, 9th April 2004:

Of course, today I used someone else's drive to turn the car around. :P
Posted by WarHead, 20:21, 9th April 2004:

That's great. I think it's one of those things you think you're bound to screw up on your test, even if you normally do them well. Was it your first test?
Posted by Gary, 20:27, 9th April 2004:

No, it was my second test. I screwed up my reverse parking manoeuvre pretty bad (hit the curb), but managed to correct it.
Posted by WarHead, 20:29, 9th April 2004:

Well, two isn't bad. My next door neighbour took 8 before she passed.
Posted by Gary, 20:32, 9th April 2004:

Yikes! I don't think I could of afforded any more tests (DVLA = robbing bastards), so I really needed to pass. I'm glad I've done it now - don't know why I never did it sooner. The freedom I have now is just immense. :)
