I believe this first post is where I say something earth-shattering and witty and bowl everyone over with my amazing charm and style, so here goes....
Er...
Hello?

I suppose at least if I start off crap, there's only one way my posts can go (worse probably).
My GOD! worse than crap?!?
/looks at malachi thread

(Welcome by the way, nice to see a friendly new face.)

Whoa whoa whoa - I didn't mean that bad.
I think if I ever posted something like that I'd have to shoot myself. Slowly. (so it's more painful see)
I can see how that would work.
THE ABOVE STATEMENT MAY BE A LIE

So.
1. How long have you been lurking, or have you just happened upon the site?
2. How did you get here.
3. Are you
another geek?
4. New England Clam chowder; red or white?

Not a bad start, Andy. Hang in there and you could soon be one of the elite.

I did. That's why I didn't get out of bed till 12...
There was a misbehaving monkey that needed hearty chastising.

No, I didn't say l33t. I never would. Except just then, of course.

1) Been reading the site for a while, but I've just moved (from Manchester down to Salisbury for a placement-type-thing as part of my degree for 5 months) so for the last week I've not been able to get on t'internet (shock horror!)
2) First happnened upon your good selves through a link from haddock.org. I assume that's what you meant, rather than a deeper how did we all get here, what's it all about question.
3) I think to be a true geek needs a degree of knowledge about something, so I think my ignorance of most things saves me. I may count as a motorsport geek, if there is such a thing.
4) Erm. pfff - beats me. I've always preferred tartan.
Your answer to question 3 means you will now be Brock's new best friend.
Welcome!

Don't pimp me off, Perci. It's a bloke.
And there
definately is such a thing as a motorsport geek. They are either Marshalls, or sit in the stands with a thermos and fill the program in. including the lap charts. Sheesh.

And your answer to Q1 mean you can possibly be my mate also, although it's bad form heading south for a placement, but I know you don't always have a choice in these things. Just remember it's your duty to try to educate them heathens in the ways of t'North. But remember, it's not their fault.

And the answer to number 4 shows he would have got whalloped in the film quote thread the other week...

"Just remember it's your duty to try to educate them heathens in the ways of t'North"
Yeah. Turning the heating off and giving a demonstration in coal-munching and whippet bothering should go a long way to healing the North/South divide.

I don't fill in lap charts, but I have timed gaps between cars with my watch before (why I'm telling everyone this I don't know)
I went out in Salisbury last night with some guys from work, expecting to have to put up with words like glarss all night but ended up talking about Blackpool illuminations with a guy from Bolton. In fact, I've met more southerners in Sheffield at university. The place seems to be full of people from the south east.

I rarely have the heating on, but that's mainly because I don't really get cold (although the money saving is an added bonus. Plus it reduces energy usage - won't someone think of the children!?)

Yeah, they've heard how good it is, see.
Brock: You're just proving how macho we are.

To the return to the motorsport geekiness, did anyone else see the qualifying earlier? First pole for Jenson Button - he really threw it through that last chicane. At least it meant Schumacher didn't just cruise round waving at his mates as he went. (I'm getting a bit close to an anti-Ferrari rant here, so I may stop typing)

It is actually possible for normal people to find there way here still, then. Was starting to wonder if we had a fuckwit-filter applied across the web somewhere.
There's hope for us all then!
