Poll:
When you watch the 'Real Cops' or 'Police, Camera, Action', who are you rooting for?

I voted for the wrong thing.
Bah.

YOU VOTED FOR THE WRONG THING IN
YOUR OWN POLL!!!!!11111
Mwahahahahahaaaaaaa.
Anyway:
1) I don't watch these shows, except by mistake.
2) 'Rooting?' I spy, with my little eye, a fucking Amerincanism, although I don't know what the English equivalent is.
3) When I
do see these programmes by accident, I want to the criminal come to a fatal end, thus saving the tax payer a hoooge amount of money.
4) I hate that damn John Bunnell, the American ex-cop who introduces the 'World's Wildest Police Videos.' He's altogether too full of obvious glee when some sucker bites the dust.
Not that I watch this programme, you understand.
The English equivalent of "Rooting" is "Rooting".

"I'll watch some telly."
30 mins of Police program later...
"Oh. Whoops."
When you watch POLICE CAMERA ACTION who are you RUTTING?????
ALAISTAIR STEWART?????
let's look at that again. the red cavalier SWERVES because the vehicles in front REDUCE THEIR SPEED SUDDENLY. as it leaves the picture, it HITS the white LORRY. but look what's happening a BIT FURTHER BACK. this yellow lorry JACK KNIFES into the CENTRAL RESERVATION.

Collins English Dictionary says:
: : : to give support to ......[C19: perhaps a variant of Scottish 'rout' - to make a loud noise, from Old Norse 'rauta' to roar.
and its true origins are uncertain.
Criminal blatently. You just wanna see them get away with it but know that it's not gonna happen. The one with the guy that stole a tank was the best. Gotta wonder what the guards were doing while he stole it...

Wasnt that an episode of ER?
Dunno, but there was a police chase one with that American guy with the hideously white teeth, fake tan and bright white hair shouting about how they opened the hatch of the tank and shot the guy in the shoulder.

Yeah
here it is. I was really worried about Frank. He can be an arsehole but once his kid with Downs came to visit him after his heart attack I thought "awww, he's only a cunt because he has to look after that retard kid at home."
Reality and TV just merge into one for me.

advance, advise, argue for, back, bless, bolster, boost, brace up, build up, campaign for, champion, countenance, defend, encourage, favor, further, go for, go with, hold with, justify, plead for, plug, plump for, press for, promote, propose, push, recommend, root for, say so, side, speak for, spread around, stump for, support, thump for, tout, uphold, urge, vindicate??
'root for' does sound very american but i wouldnt say it was an americanism, i'd just say that americans use it more because they are stupid people with limited vocabularies... not that i want to encite some kind of 'americans suck/americans rule' debate or make massive generalisations at all...
Sweeping generalisations.

You just want to call Grim... a stupid person with a limited vocabulary?
Thanks =[
To be honest, I could have whacked the word 'rooting' into a thesaurus and gone through all the words it came up with, but out of all those words above I would have choosen 'root for'.
'Brace up'?

How do you watch a program by mistake?
You know, you're channel hopping, and you see a chase taking place, but you don't KNOW it's THAT programme, so you watch until whatsisname comes on and says, 'This guy must certainly wish he'd chosen another day to steal a tank.....' and you switch channels again.
Makes you wonder, what day is best to steal a tank?

That was first and third person in one sentence.
Impressive stuff.
Where have you been, anyway?
Had an exam on psychoacoustics/audio/film delivery techniques on Monday morning. Went straight to the pub. Been pissed since pretty much and only been home for 1/2 an hour since. Totally forgot about the other exams though :/
Better get reading again, really.
