In order to remedy my bad mood yesterday morning, I put on my legendary 80's cd (made by vic, whoever he is).. by the time i was nearing work i was driving down a country lane, feeling a fair bit happier, when, literally as i approached the cusp of a hill, i put my foot on the accelerator and...... "i aaam the one and onlyyyy!!11".... ace. cheered me up no end :)

Chesney Hawks.
Mwahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa.
Right now I find that The Darkness cheer me up whenever I'm in a shitty mood, which is pretty much every day.

Grim..., 10:14, 14th May 2004:
Chesney did a 'gig' at my girlfriends university once. She and her mates all stood at the front shouting "One hit wonder" at him.
In the end he walked off the stage - oddly, his music (and lyrics) kept going.
I really dont like The Darkness, i find the lead singer not only very very ugly, but also extremely annoying.
...been listening to a lot of Steppenwolf recently. No idea why.

Perhaps it's because you were born to be wild.

Me and a mate sang along to Chesney Hawkes in the cinema at the top of our voices when it was playing over the start of Doc Hollywood.
A few people found it amusing. The others were obviously miserable bastards.

i would have thought they'd thank you for improving the film
and what makes you think that Brock singing at the top of his voice is a improvement?
Posted by
su, 10:55, 14th May 2004:
nothing could make that film worse
Posted by
Brock, 11:37, 14th May 2004:
It would have been hard to hate a film from the first 5 minutes though, maybe they were being reticent in showing their approval of my singing, until they'd had time to have formed a reasoned and objective assessement of the film overall?
Posted by
Grim..., 12:08, 14th May 2004:
Really, really liking Hybrid's 'Wide Angle' at the moment.
I'd hate any film that has "I am The One and Only" anywhere in it, let alone the first 5 minutes.
Personally I am listening to a lot of Muse and Hoobastank at the moment. Muse's new album, Absolution, is just the best thing I've heard in a long while. Right now I'm listening to Daft Punk's Discovery album.
/me strokes his iRiver IHP-120 HDMP3 Player =D
Joss Stone at the moment.

i hate her white stripes cover... and you just like her cos she's sooo young...
Posted by
Sul, 12:54, 14th May 2004:
That cover has pissed me off enough to hate her fucking guts.
"But she's got a great voice Sul" - Fuck you, I dont care, she's a whore.
Posted by
su, 13:42, 14th May 2004:
yes she's got a great voice, but it sounds very made-to-order.

John Martyn - One The Cobbles, is my latest aquisition. Seems quite good; better than his last two efforts anyroadup.
Her 'best friend' goes to the college that my mum is principal at.
Yeah so like, that's cool right?
no

A bit tenuous, innit.
This week its been (mainly):
The Replacements
Gang of Four
Prince
Funkadelic
Wire
Prince?! Come on AP, surely not.
I fucking hate Prince! - FACT
I never really liked the 80's revival, even when it was the 80's (and I was a sweet young thing of 54) it just wasn't my sort of thing.
I'm very much into Norwiegan Death Metal at the moment though.. there's nothing like a bit of Mayhem or Burzum to get my juices flowing
Posted by
WarHead, 15:44, 14th May 2004:
Well anyway, John Martyn's had the lower half of one of his legs amputated recently. THAT'S what I call suffering for your art.
Posted by
su, 15:45, 14th May 2004:
prince is a genius - FACT
Where's my goddamn banning button. *grumble*
Prince had a rib removed so he could give himself head!
THAT'S what I call sufferi....
no wait

Sorry Foggy, big Prince fan, 30-odd albums and counting...
you have went down in my estimations now mate...tut tut tut
Posted by
Brock, 15:49, 14th May 2004:
How was he ever 'up' in your estimations?
("You have went"? What?)
Posted by
WarHead, 15:50, 14th May 2004:
Like him or not, you have to admit that having lots of crumpet in your band is a great way to get plenty of shags.
Brock: Her didn't want to say, 'you have GONE down...'
Posted by
WarHead, 15:52, 14th May 2004:
Welcome to the cruel world.
Although Ben Harper's quality, it's shit that he shares a name with Robert Lindsay's character in 'My Family'.
That programme would be much less shit if he played a grown up Wolfie Smith in it.
Posted by
WarHead, 16:06, 14th May 2004:
But still shit.
You've gone down in my grammar estimations foggy, 'you have went down' indeed.
(I'm with you on the Prince thing though.)
Come on, my grammer has never been good.

bah.. this wasnt supposed to be a 'what i've been listening to' thread.. it was supposed to be a kind of 'soundtrack moments' thread... like when my bloke was being thrown out of waterloo station due to a bomb threat and 'panic' by the smiths was playing on the ipod..
Posted by
WarHead, 16:10, 14th May 2004:
What are the chances of that happening?
Posted by
WarHead, 16:11, 14th May 2004:
Bit if we're talking about soundtrack moments, I remember getting carpet burns on my knees to the sound of 'Split' by The Groundhogs, if that's any use to you.
Posted by
jeff, 16:12, 14th May 2004:
well, if you go into london every day, and in this time of regular station evacuations, *and* you've taken to listening to the shaun of the dead soundtrack on repeat, then there's a reasonable chance...
Yeah, but Jeff, nothing happens to us, so we have to adapt things to suit the fact.

Brock, 16:21, 14th May 2004:

Posted by
WarHead, 16:22, 14th May 2004:
Is she really very attractive, only she looks like she's got a bit of a wobble-gob to me?

Er, jeff, did you give the Doc and OTHER photos (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more)?
This is Louise, Jeff you fool!
How's it going? I haven't seen you since you were using that 'other' name...

you really did go a little overboard with the highlights at one point didnt you? oh and thanks for not showing up to my 21st birthday party even though you live down the road...
sorry, just airing some issues that still hurt
Yeah, sorry about that, but I heard Bumdog was going to be there and I was still a bit awkward about that April night we spent together under the moonlight. Little Frank is taking his first steps, and he's the spitting image of his father.
