How long did people watch and earn before starting to post?

Intriguing, I think.

And did anything in particular make you decide to join in?

Personally, I saw a bunch of pisstakers with a random sense of humour. That appealed to me.

:~)

pretty much the same

same flavour as a lot of the old oooolllldddd news days.

i tapped in, had a quick look, zipped around all the active threads to confirm, and signed up

I was here before all this approval business. And I more or less joined straight in. Well, my Uncle Moc did anyway. Doctor Lucid, or JAson, came along after Moc got sent to prison for fraud.

Jeff told me to go sort all you guys out. But then by the time she told me to get back in my box I was having too much fun to listen.

I posted on a Red Dwarf thread fucking ages ago and then kinda got sucked in. I've seen alot of changes in my time round these parts. Its been an emotional rollercoaster, but a pretty good rollercoaster. Like space mountain at eurodisney.

1 year, 310 days ago, after lurking for a month or so i decided to join in.. i go through phases of lurking. i met cal in real life before i started posting here though..
Posted by Brock, 18:20, 16th May 2004:

Did you use the same technique? Following him around and listening to everything he says for a month before you spoke to him?
Posted by Hanni, 18:33, 16th May 2004:

Ahahah. That got him.

i lurked for a while, then figured out if i didn't post anything nobody would know the site was here.
Posted by jeff, 20:46, 16th May 2004:

good call cal.
brock, yes, yes that's exactly what i did, how on earth did you know?

sul. space mountain stopped when i was on it and they turned all the lights on, all illusions shattered... much like when people discover that this site is just cal logged in in loads of different browsers on different computers just talking to himself all day.

Some guy at my office sent me a link to an iamcal thread, but I can't remember what it was now. Anyroadup, I rather liked what I saw, so joined up and started posting right away.

I think it was a couple of days for me. When I first found the site I didn't know it had a message forum.

It was a google search for PHP source code that Cal posted that first led me here.

Can't remember my first post. It was a long time ago but I'm sure that I didn't really watch before posting, just wrote out a post and clicked.

I came across the website because of a uni friend of cal's (Phil).

Cal said 'Come and post on my site'.
So I did.
Nearly four years ago, I think.
Posted by Grim..., 10:28, 17th May 2004:

Yup.

I lurked for a year before I posted.
Posted by jeff, 17:20, 17th May 2004:

Posted by arsepuppy, 17:30, 17th May 2004:

My memory's so shot these days I wouldn't be able to tell you.
Posted by Salman Rushdie, 11:43, 18th May 2004:

I didn't lurk, but I retro-lurked, in a way.. spent a long time at my old job reading almost every single thread...
Posted by Grim..., 11:52, 18th May 2004:

AP: A whole year of watching, and you just couldn't resist telling everybody your porn name?

By the way, your next post is your 8,000th.
Posted by jeff, 13:24, 18th May 2004:

ap and dr salman moc lucy are here because they followed me. that is the extent of my usefulness.
Posted by Grim..., 13:32, 18th May 2004:

Jeez - must suck to be you.
Posted by jeff, 13:35, 18th May 2004:

yeah, but i take comfort in the fact that i'm not brock. its small comfort but anything will do.
Posted by Abe Frohman, 13:38, 18th May 2004:

Can i get an Amen?
Posted by Grim..., 13:38, 18th May 2004:

Not being Brock is surely more than a small comfort.

Plus you have boobs, and boobs can always cheer you up (works for me, anyway).
Posted by WarHead, 13:41, 18th May 2004:

Abe has boobs?
Posted by Brock, 13:48, 18th May 2004:

You've seen the pictures...
Posted by jeff, 14:03, 18th May 2004:

brocks are bigger than mine. hence the edge taken off my comfort.
Posted by Grim..., 14:09, 18th May 2004:

You what?

This is the internet, girl.
Surely you have 38D boobs?
Posted by jeff, 14:27, 18th May 2004:

no, i only have two boobs
Posted by Grim..., 14:28, 18th May 2004:

Really?

Shame.
Posted by Brock, 14:29, 18th May 2004:

Yeah. Ap and the Doc. They are quite big tits though.
Posted by jeff, 14:38, 18th May 2004:

/insert punchline drums here.
Posted by arsepuppy, 14:46, 18th May 2004:

Grim...: Yeah, weird choice of first post but I wanted to sneak in stealthily rather than start a big 'HELLO LOOK AT ME' thread that some crazy kids have tried, innit :)

Can someone write a program that assigns a different guitar solo tone to each of the symbols on the top row of the keyboard and allow people to hear their time-changing-guitar-flourishes?

Yours looks like a lower riff than mine, Doc.
Posted by arsepuppy, 19:05, 18th May 2004:

You could do it in Flash quite easily.
Posted by Brock, 19:09, 18th May 2004:

Go on then smart arse. Then we can have it on the site somewhere.

Smarty pants.
Posted by arsepuppy, 19:13, 18th May 2004:

I'm not going to, I just said you could, innit.
Posted by Brock, 19:19, 18th May 2004:

Don't be so fucking soft!

I could? The only flashing I could do would be to drop my kecks at the old women at the bus stop.

Only when it was warm though. My reputation in that department is already in tatters, it doesn't need any more bad press.

Posted by Brock, 22:58, 18th May 2004:

That's the one. Thanks for bringing it up.
Posted by WarHead, 23:01, 18th May 2004:

You can't blame him, since you can't bring it up yourself.
Posted by Brock, 23:28, 18th May 2004:

I can!

Ironically, it was Brock himself who first brought up (so to speak) his needle like penis..

oh!
Posted by Brock, 23:58, 18th May 2004:

"Ironically, it was Brock himself who first..."

Precisely. And exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself.
