Ok, Friday afternoon, and remembering office work I remember the deep dreaming of being elsewhere at this time. I always think of travelling, so - if you had a year off and 6 destinations - where would you go?
I'd go to Argentina, Thailand, Cambodia, New Zealand, Venezuela and I can never decide between India or South Africa.

What a pathetic come back! You are saying that seeing the world is worthless. There was no argument (or indeed mention) that spending money on 3rd world county poverty is not a worthwhile use of cash.
Do you give all the money you save for your holidays to Oxfam or other such charities then, Grim...?
No. You fucking don't do you. So try again with a comEback without trying to make out that I have no awareness of the world and it's problems. Twat.
If nobody travelled, we wouldn't even
know about these problems that you so piously champion as your defense. How could we help then?
Nah. Let's stay at home with our head in the sand, and only understand what we see 10 feet from our front door.

Posted by
jeff, 15:16, 1st June 2004:
i think you should clarify your opinions a little more so they don't appear like sweeping generalisations..
instead of "travelling is a waste of money" (and thus appearing to condemn anyone who spends money on such a pursuit, and potentially provoke a reaction from them)
try "i wouldn't personally waste my money on travelling as i prefer to spend it on other things, such as accessories for my car"
i never said i don't like fast cars btw, in fact one day i hope to have a go on some sort of race track :)

If you can't handle arguing Grim, don't start one.
I think it's very small minded to believe that travelling is such a complete waste of money that you stated that you do. To think that there can be nothing out there in the rest of the world that is worth the effort of seeing or learning about, shows a distinct lack of imagination and awareness.
Or are you just having a sensitive day?

Grim..., 15:30, 1st June 2004:
I
didn't start arguing, I stated an opinion.
However, as an argument is the only time this place gets busy, I have no problem being in one =]
I don't think that there is nothing in the rest of the world that's worth seeing, I'd love to go to Tokyo (like I said).
But the money involved is just so daft that I think it's a very selfish way of spending it.
While I'm aware that I jip a lot of money into my car, it does have a resale value, unlike a holiday.
Also, I have been travelling.
