You don't like the French, right?
But Stella is made by the French, right?
Posted by
Brock, 08:56, 23rd June 2004:
Belgians, toss-piece. They are like French people, but more boring and less smelly and arrogant...
Posted by
Grim..., 08:58, 23rd June 2004:
Oh yeah.
Never mind, then.
Posted by
Brock, 09:02, 23rd June 2004:
Could be worse, you could have created an entire new thread to make yourself look a fuckwit with that ill-informed mistake, eh?
Close shave, Grim...

Or I could have got something completely wrong and gone all ad hominem on the person that was correct, right Brockie?

Poor Grim... I'd rather drink bleach than French beer. Not because I hate the French so much as the fact that bleach doesnt have that terrible aftertaste that all French lagers seem to.
Posted by
Grim..., 14:38, 23rd June 2004:
I'd imagine that bleach has a pretty nasty aftertase of it's own...

It's minimal compared to French lager.
french lager turns your whites puce, too

Actually, Grim..., I proved your point wrong with hard facts. I
then called you a prick, because you refused to accept being wrong and attempted to change the original argument to try and worm out of it. That's altogether different from ad hominem, my old china...
;)
What? Grim refused to accept being wrong and attempted to change the original arguement to try and worm out of it?
Well i never.
Posted by
Brock, 23:40, 23rd June 2004:
Hard to believe, I know. Must have been an isolated incident.
(Isolated to every argument he participates in, obviously).

attempted to change the original argument to try and worm out of it.
You know, you still haven't found a thread where I did this.
Posted by
Brock, 09:35, 24th June 2004:
We found a few between us, but you refused to acknowledge or recognise that you did it despite this. So we got bored of you saying "No I didn't" as your sole defense, so we left it alone.
Bless.

/rests case
Posted by
Grim..., 09:47, 24th June 2004:
Let me try for you.
I think you've accused me of doing it twice (which is obviously
all the time).
One was in the mirror / candle thread, where I attempted to prove the theory using a thought experiment.
Obviously, being a thought experiment, every part of the original problem was simplified to make it easier to understand.
Of course, the theory remained the same, and could also be proved in a mirror / candle case, as long as everybody had a spare few hours, a calculator, an A-Level in Math's and a Masters in Physics.
And, of course, I was right, not wrong =]
The other was the world travelling thread, where I said something, then in my very next post came back and said why I thought that, but, of course, that was me 'changing the original argument'.
Perhaps I should mention the Mastermind thread, where I didn't make my question specific enough. Abe pointed out that I was changing my question, and he was right, so I let him have the Mastermind chair (in which he promptly cheated).
But that was my fault for not being specific enough.
You'll also find a lot of cases where I am told I am wrong, and I agree.
Like the start of this thread, for instance.

there was the jimmy hill big nose thread too.
it's odd that a number of people can all see you doing this and that not one person has come to your defense to state that you're not continually changing your arguement..
my what a good idea for a poll...
Posted by
Grim..., 09:55, 24th June 2004:
Oh yeah, Jimmy Hill, where the black man came along and agreed about the use of certain words, and the thread instantly died.

jeff: Due to the fact that he always defaults to SWERVE if there is the slightest bit of ambiguity, and seems physically incapable of focussing on the parts of the argument we mean, I have to assume this will continue to be an issue where Grim... just sees the world in a completely different way to
everyone else..
Tired now. This argument feels like trying to walk through 3 foot of treacle.

Just like the start of this thread, you mean?
physically incapable of focussing on the parts of the argument we mean
As opposed to the
actual argument, you mean?
This argument feels like trying to walk through 3 foot of treacle.
I'd eat the treacle =]

Brock, 11:11, 24th June 2004:
Any ambiguity at the start of this thread was there? Thought not. Classic example of Grim-focus, thank you. Totally missing the point and selectively reading to try and prove a different one.
And the
actual argument is generally the bit that we are referring to, just not the bit that you've tried to twist it into later on when you realise you're wrong...
Fuck-monkey.
;)

Ah-ha =]
I thought it meant 'wrong-ness' - how ironic...

That's kind of the point, I don't do that.
Anyway, this is fucking boring.

Hang on, woah - I've just realised something.
Brock, have you got an email address?
Or could you
send me an email so I can send you something if you don't want to post it (obviously, the fan-mail would clog your box up =])?

Right back there?
Posted by
Brock, 12:13, 24th June 2004:
That was me being tired of hitting my head against a brick wall by attempting to get you to see the point. It wasn't a reference to losing, just a lack of progress.

Brock, 12:16, 24th June 2004:
Easy mistake to make, though, nob-rot. Every night "it gets on my tits", and I have to sleep for 8 hours to get it off again...
Oh no. Actually when I think about it, I realise that irritation and fatigue are completely different!
