Fuckers
I only just got this all downloaded and working a couple of weeks ago, and the bastards are pissing on my (and many others') strawberries!!
I don't want to have loads of shitty, emoticon laden (yahoo's are shite) chat programs on my computer if one prog can do it just as well. And in some cases better. Yahoo chat looks like it is aimed at 5 year olds (it probably is) so I don't want to use it. Anyway, what with IM and flickr and GNE, I'll have no room on my monitor for anything useful!

This is constant with Trillian man, worry not, they circumvent/patch almost the instant anything is changed.
I just had a look at Miranda after many recommendations and I'd have to say it looks like fine stuff. Open source, free, covers all the biggies plus jabber, and you can put it on a floppy or thumbdrive with all your contacts and take it with you wherevers. Might start using it instead of Trillian.

Cool. Thanks Cal.
Salti: We've tried the 'getting girls to post naked pics' bit before. All it does is attract complete numbskulls to the site. It hasn't worked since the great, much vaunted Naked Pics thread that featured a naked arse competition between Suzie (no longer here after some sort of tiff, I know not why) and Sul (still here. At least while his liver holds out). Oh, and Nov showed her gash on here before, but that wasn't much to write home about :)
Always worth a shot, though!
ah tish, twas not a google scam, was a genyoowine plea from the very bottom of my groin for some genuine pr0ny shots of trillian from hitchhikers.

I don't know why cal likes his name in all lowercase. I guess it is just one of those things you don't question and just accept it.
Reminds me of a lesson I learned from my Geometry teacher. He is the only teacher that I had that ever said "Don't worry about why this is true, just accept it." I got a A++ in that class. Not only because I just accepted what was being taught, but also because I was trying to redeem myself for an incident that happened the previous year.
I was pushing a A/V cart down the hall (ok people, try to control your laughter) and I saw a kid sitting out in the hall and working on homework. The kid stopped me and asked me if I know Algebra and if I could help him. I said Ok, let me take a look and as soon as I did, the teacher came out into the hall and started yelling at me because the kid wasn't working on homework, he was working on a test!!
As luck would have it. My geometry teacher the next year was THAT teacher...

You don't even remember what you post 30 minutes earlier, you stupid fuck. The whole issue was that I was
using the rules of the language to make an implication of lack of worth. I was fully aware of the usage of English at the time, but was making a statement with a subtlety obviously far beyond your comprehension.
And the only reason you get a capital letter is that you do actually have a significance. Namely that of bulk.

The expression try and followed by a verb is nonstandard.
Use try to instead.

Correct: Try to do it again.

Yeah, funny how he's ignored that (twice, now), huh? Probably because that requires actually
knowing something about the English language rather than just looking on dictionary.com...
i'm afraid i can't see where all this anti-grim vitriol is coming from, and it's a "joke" that's gone from barely funny to irritating
i haven't seen any recent discussion re F/f french A/a american either
the whole mega-pedant when-it-suits thing is getting way over-used
and deciding that grim's changing the argument because someone else has decided to read things differently is neither fair nor interesting to read when it is harped on.
there's a not terribly fine line between abuse intended to amuse and simple lashing out.

and iamcal doesn't have social rules as much as it has anti-social rules, for example:
The longest threads are reserved for arguments.
Arguments should degrade into name calling if at all possible.
Photoshopping pictures of people which make them run off and hang themselves will be considered funny, until someone confirms the hanging (and even then the picture might still be funny)
Arguments on vegetarianism, cars, fox-hunting and war should reappear every few months, in a new thread but with identical arguments from both sides, proving that neither side has learnt anything or moved their stand point even one inch.
People should pick on grim... as much as possible, regardless of whether his argument is right or wrong he will always be considered to be wrong.
Alfie/Chandler will storm off every few months only to return after everyone (especially himself and Cal) have calmed down a bit.
Newbies will get no benefit of the doubt or acceptance until they have been here a number of weeks. This is regardless of the contribution they make during their first tentative posts.
Spelling Nazis will jump on the smallest of mistakes, regardless of who posted and what time of day they posted. They will however make mistakes of their own and say that they couldn't be bothered.
im sure there are many others.
