Either Alfie or Abe/Vic is gonna come on and make some sarcastic comment about how behind the times I am.

Well. You are. But in this instance, you seem to have found something first.
Frankly I am shocked, I have to confess, but you may have done it.

Unless of course, you have just invented 'Rock,Paper,Sodomy' and are trying to get Brockles to play.
Posted by
WarHead, 08:58, 7th July 2004:
This is very worrying.
Oh and also, it's 'Paper, Scissors, Stone' as Ne Fule Kno.
Posted by
Brock, 10:38, 7th July 2004:
I always knew it as "ick ack ock". Anyone else heard of that?

Surely brick beats forehead.

That may be true, but I was only copying what was on the site ....with a typo.

Sul, 13:26, 7th July 2004:
I used to play it as Nik Nak Nok. So instead of saying "1... 2..." and going on "3" you say "Nik... Nak..." and go on "Nok". Far more enjoyable.

jeff, 13:26, 7th July 2004:

Sorry to bitch slap you right back on Jeffs behalf, Daniel. I believe this quote from the same page invalidates your opinion:
Available in North American bookstores in October 2004.
Since when did North Americans know how to name/pronounce/spell correctly?

In a number of places, however, for example, Edinburgh, Norwich, and Petersfield, they also make the signs 'rain', bunching their fingers and pointing them downwards, and 'fire', pointing their fingers upwards. 'Rain' puts out 'fire' and rusts 'scissors', while fire burns 'paper' and blackens 'stone'.... Whoever wins each time wets his first and second fingers by licking them, pulls back his opponent's sleeve, and smacks his bare wrist good and hard, an operation which is more painful than those who have not experienced it might imagine.

where we went to school it was exclusively Rock, Paper, Scissors.
And no I didn't go to school stateside. As that site says, regional variations innit.
Posted by
jeff, 15:54, 7th July 2004:
i just meant in daily use, english people would more likely call it a stone, americans wouldnt ever see small stones and call them stones, they'd say 'rock'.
I always believed rocks were like big things you found on cliffs and sticking out of the sea.. and i mean big, like bigger than stonehenge, which in person is a little disappointing.
Posted by
Sul, 15:56, 7th July 2004:
I agree that stonehenge is better left to the imagination.
