I don't know, I'm quite keen on Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, and wind farms are generally quite a nice thing.

Doesn't say anything about ladies of fair face and easy virtue anywhere.

Not over-flowing with enthusiasm now, I have to say.

They bloody complain about wind farms but I bet they will complain a hell of a lot more when Wales is underwater due to global warming. They can't have it both ways.

These wind farm companies should offer all the people within a 2 mile radius of each wind turbine, free electricity. That would shut them up. And they would still generate more electricity that those people could use.

Thats a good point, what's the point of owning Wales if we can't put all our power plants and landfill sites there?

Salman: Llanfair P.G. isn't that great. It's just a pub, a council estate and a big golf wear shop. Dull, dull place.

Yeah, go to Portmeirion instead and play at being No.6.

It's been a long time since I've been to Wales, and I've never been to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, but I'd be tempted to go. Saying that, the other day I trawled both museums in St. Albans looking for a t-shirt with the word "St. Albans" on it, and couldn't find one. What the bloody heck is that about?

supply & demand, innit. you may be at the forefront of a great wave of public clamouring for souvenirs of st albans. or you may not.
Posted by Salman Rushdie, 14:16, 20th July 2004:

There ought to be a great public clamouring! Top tourist attraction, the fair city of St. A, I tell you!

good band too

Good band? Are you talking about the Pixies?
Posted by Foghorn Leghorn, 16:59, 20th July 2004:

The Pixies aint good!

Second best band to ever come out of St. Albans, the Pixies!
Posted by jeff, 17:52, 20th July 2004:

and the first best band is 'Can't Snorkel' right?
Posted by cal, 18:28, 20th July 2004:

foghorn: retract that statement immediately. you are clearly fucking deranged
Posted by jeff, 18:29, 20th July 2004:

insulting the pixies should be a bannable offence...
Posted by arsepuppy, 18:38, 20th July 2004:

oh come on.... they were good and all, but their last two albums get a bit too much a fair deal. Patchy stuff at best. 'Trompe Le Monde', I'm especially looking at you.
Posted by arsepuppy, 18:40, 20th July 2004:

...and as great as their highlights were, they do have a similar good:shit ratio to the bloody stereophonics...

but still... they are ace.
although on their recent tour you couldnt help but think they might have just been doing it for the money as it was a little lacklustre in places....
Posted by arsepuppy, 18:48, 20th July 2004:

...and for all the hype bestowed on them recently, it may have well as been four aging iPods on stage shouting odd things in Spanish to a surf rock backing.
Posted by arsepuppy, 18:53, 20th July 2004:

(that's 'surf rock' in the old 'rock journalism cliche' sense, not the 'Reef/Rootjoose' sense, btw)

Nah, I saw them at the Brixton Academy and they kicked the proverbial ass. Although I did get a bit of a scowl from Black Francis for shouting "Why the heck haven't you played Nimrod's son?" at one point.

Hell, so maybe they were doing it for the money. But it meant I got to see the god damn pixies. O yea!

Jeff, no, sadly the Snorkel boys are down at 4th, partly because we haven't got round to recording a first album yet. Either I was completely spangled on drugs (which I don't think I was), but Belle and Sebastian actually said "St. Albans" in one of the in-between-songs bits during their set at Glastonbury. I've had confirmation that there actually was a rainbow, so I'm prepared to believe the St. Albans reference wasn't solely from my mind as well...
