Is the 'Post a reply' bit meant to underline on a mouseover?
Posted by jeffld_DUPE1, 23rd May 2005:

What post 'Post a reply' ? I don't see that happening.

I'm using IE
Posted by Grim..., 23rd May 2005:

I'm using Fox. The post a reply bit right above where you post a reply =]

I'm using Firefox (Grim, you cunt) and it underlines for me.
Posted by Grim..., 23rd May 2005:

What the hell is wrong with calling it Fox?

No-one had a problem with brock talking about his 'Mobile Phone' in the Crazy Frog tread...
Posted by jeffld_DUPE1, 23rd May 2005:

bile phone..

hehe.

I like to use 'fire', but i'm at work and a slave to Microsoft.
Posted by WarHead, 24th May 2005:

What happened to my General Erection thread? (Can't remember exactly what it was called, but it might have been 'Poll, anyone?) Was it removed by some evil administrator, or is it just not visible?
Posted by Brock, 24th May 2005:

I use 'F' on Microsoft, Vic. It's not a Mac thing.

WH: It was flushed. Like all things shit.
Posted by Victor Menendezz, 24th May 2005:

I'd like to use 'the ox' at work, but I don't think they'd be that happy if I went around installing new browsers on their computers.
Posted by WarHead, 24th May 2005:

Brock, if it was flushed, like all things shit, why are you still here?
Posted by Grim..., around 24th May 2005:

Hahahahaha!
Posted by Brock, around 25th May 2005:

Because I, oh person that would challenge the further reaches of carbon dating, am shit-hot.

Big difference, and so I indeed rock.

Sometimes a flush is better than a full house.

Posted by Doctor Lucid_DUPE1, around 25th May 2005:

Rock? Carbon dating? Sounds to be like Brock's gone a bit sedimentary in his old age.

You're a smoking turd. Is that the same thing?
Posted by perclissigi, around 25th May 2005:

Surely you mean smoking -a- turd?
Posted by Grim..., around 25th May 2005:

No, Brock smokes cocks.
Posted by cal_DUPE1, around 25th May 2005:

weird - post a reply doesn't underline for me

ahh - it has a named link around it. i can fix that

[edit] should be fixed now. can a 'ireox' user confirm?
Posted by Brock, around 25th May 2005:

Yeah, it's fixed on '..o.'
Posted by WarHead, around 25th May 2005:

'Post a reply doesn't underline' what?
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, around 25th May 2005:

while we're tweaking minor formatting bits --
is it possible to lose the forced-blank-line prepended and appended to every <blockquote>?

it just sucks space without adding any real readability or niftiness. if the poster wants blank indented/lined space they can still add it via the miracle of the Return Key.

Is the Return key the Enter key? And what's the history behind that name ;l
Posted by cal_DUPE1, around 26th May 2005:

carriage return on typewriters, innit

the reason for the extra space is because css says that horizontal scroll bars take up vertical space within the div, inclduing padding, and don't extend the height of the div. this means that when we get horizontal scrollbars, we also get vertical ones (which allow you to scroll by 1 line) unless we have vertical padding.

fucking browsers :(
Posted by robotnik, around 26th May 2005:

make your own.

(ok so return I get, but why enter?)

genius that cal is
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, 26th May 2005:

calcss- bleah

robo- harks back to the olden days of early computing, when a special key was used to push the typing into a command buffer instead of adding formatting characters (carriage-return plus line-break) to a data(text) buffer. you literally Entered what you typed for processing.

you'll see Excel still distinguishes between the keys

at the moment, they are gone from view. at some point i'll build an archive index

Posted by jeffld_DUPE1, around June 2005:

You can still get to the old ones if you know the topic number.

example: Pedantry starts here

I wonder if I can/should *bump* a topic that fell off of the bottom.

A Topic fell off your bottom?

I would imagine it's harder to hold on to than a Bounty on Kofi Ananananan's head.
Posted by cal_DUPE1, around 30th September 2005:

i get round to things in the end. blockquotes now have no top/bottom padding.

oo! nice one. but didn't you say it was part of the Standard? how'd you chop it out?
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, around 30th September 2005:

oh that's interesting. the top/bottom padding just reappeared
Posted by jeffld_DUPE1, around October 2005:

style sheet caching i suspect
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, around October 2005:

no, something different.

it went from old (grr) to new (cal got it back to intended behaviour! roxxor!!!) to re-old {eh or maybe bugger} aka {Oh, It's Back The Way It Was}.

key point: several people, from WAY different locations/ISPs, saw the same thing: 1/ went proper!!) 2/ reverted::(not just repeated the same hence implying caching}

it really is most odd, if you, cal, made NO changes. implies joint ISP frigging around at a low level.
but, i can't see a commercially-justifiable reason for it.
