As soon as I have seen it, I will comment.
seven point five out of ten.
They didn't ruin it.
But it wasn't great.
Personally, I liked it.
I would have kept a few other bits in though.
Like perhaps explaining the towel, as opposed to it being an obscure in-joke.
Also, I love the "cinematic" version of the theme music.

I've not seen it. I'm told it's shite by those who have seen it, though.
It's alright.
It could be worse. It could be much, much better.
I'm waiting for the DVD.
I love NETFLIX!
Woooo hooooo !!!1
you choose DVD instead of big screen, surround sound, cinematic glory???
say it it isn't so
Some people have that at home...
My step-dad has a subwoofer the size of a small coffee table, no joke.
darn, and my sub is only like a footrest.
yeah, dvd audio is 48k 5.1 surround, compared to CD audio (44.1k stereo), it's quite a difference in experience.
Perc - I can assure you that your step-dads hooooooooooooooooge speakers pale in comparison to a cinema setup.
depends which cinema, really. yay for THX ;)
the number one reason for me to go is the actual FILM. It's nice seeing a reel every once in a while, instead of just ones and zeros.

shit
I thought I'd hate Marvin but was pleasantly surprised; otherwise, Martin Freeman and Mos Def weren't, well they just weren't.

Perc - i bet your step-dads place does not have sound installed by the lovely peter jackson and looks like this

i loved it. movie version of the eagle's theme was awesome. vogons were great. magrathea scene was stunning. some stuff was so-so, but i generally thought they did a great job.
i hope they make a sequel.
Not seen it yet, but Stephen Fry as the book, Bill Bailey as the whale, how can it be bad?
That new Marvin look is a bit shit though.
but doesn't he sound great
BILL BAILEY AS THE WHALE. I loved that whale like a brother loves her mother.
I still get the feeling they should have skipped half of the special effects and random romance story elements and replace it all with that guy who Arthur Dent incessantly kills ranting for half an hour.
I loved that whale like a brother loves her mother.
Does that mean you didn't love the whale? =/
run, don't walk to see it hanni
The trouble with the cinema is twats rustlling sweety papers, spilling Coke all over the place, throwing pop-corn at their mates, banging the back of your seat, talking through the intersting bits ... and even the uninteresting bits, having to get past you to go for a wee evety 5 minutes ... need I go on?
Yes please, your increasing resemblance to Victor Melrew is amusing.

I'm really enjoying the radio show on Radio 4 (Tuesday evenings 6.30) They are doing the last two books as 8 shows. The last series was great too.
I expect that someone will put the whole lot up as a torrent when they get to the end.
Dear Sir/Madam,

It was OK. As alfie said, they didn't ruin it, but it wasn't great. I think you'd enjoy it more if you hadn't a) Seen the original TV series, b) Heard the original radio series, or c) Read the book.
