I seem to think you've got a PSP.

I'm thinking of getting one for my flight over to America in September, but if I buy it from Duty Free, is it going to be charged up?
Or does it take batteries or something?

it wont be charged. it takes a lithium ion cell. you'll also have to pay import cuty on it when you come back, unless you're planning on hiding it :)

I am planning on buying it on the way out, and hiding it on the way back, but that's fucked that idea up =[

avoid import duty by trashing the box, putting any CDs etc. in a separate bag, and just bring the base unit plus cords in in a bag.

same thing works for laptops. and you can save a lot of money buying UK-spec laptops in singapore, for future reference.
