i saw the first 30mins of nightwatch in a scifi channel preview -- very french feel to it, very intense
I thought it was Russian.
I saw Serenity in the USA.

that has that certain style that just says "that's salti, eh", to be sure.
i got lucky -- an e-mate used to be a journalist/reviewer and still gets invites to some things. she mentioned she didn't want to see this one and i jumped up and down. score!
also: tonight is the WORLD PREMIERE of "kinky boots" at the same cinema (which they were setting up for when i left), and "someone got run over by a bus" on shaftesbury avenue, also as i was leaving. keep an eye out for when i leave things -- that appears to be when the Action is
a quick search on "Firefly" video on Limewire seems to show the whole series is there -- very worth checking out if you can't afford the DVDs. and the movie is much much better if you know the characters/back-story, as some key characters in the movie are at the end of their rope so would be difficult to work out why they're behaving/relating that way based just on the movie

ah bummer- you saw it before you saw firefly?
arse and bugger. your understanding of the characters would have been confused by the movie. the characters are all under major strain from the outset, and the characters and their interrelationships that so affect their interactions don't come across that clearly from just the movie.
i'd say some other stuff re how FUCKING dramatic the latter scenes are, in light of how normal the lead-up in the series is, but i am steadfastly refusing anything remotely resembling a spoiler. and there's not a lot you can say about the plot without being a spoiler.
