I think it was a disgusting thing to do on TV. What do you think?
www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/l...
If you aren't prepared to deal with the realities of where your food comes from then you shouldn't be allowed to eat it.
Not to mention the fact that the traditional way that they did it is nothing like the hideousness of a conveyor belt style slaughter house.
But it says that legislation states that the animal must be stunned first? But also, to do it on TV?

No worries as far as I'm concerned - if we weren't meant to eat animals, they wouldn't be made of meat =]
That doesn't always happen properly in slaughter houses either apparently.
Would you have happily watched it if they had hit it with a stun bolt or a stick first?
like people then Grim...?
I know it goes on every day and all that, but to do it publicly like that? I think that was to get ratings IMHO.

In the UK the animal has to be stunned before it's killed.
Who gives a fuck if it's on TV or not? People are too ignorant about their food.
Anyway, the story is just Jamie-bashing -
Hugh has been killing his own animals on TV for years.
Mmmmmm. Human meat. Yummy. (sick) I was a vegetarian for eight years until I fell off the wagon. That is
my weakness, but it doesn't mean that I don't think eating meat is wrong.

I've always wondered what they tasted like (pork, apparently).
but it doesn't mean that I don't think eating meat is wrong.
What does that mean?
/starts cancelling out negatives
"but it doesn't mean that I don't think eating meat is wrong."
that was a beautiful sentence.
I eat meat because I am weak, but I think that eating meat is wrong. If I was a better person I would choose to eat/use
nothing from an animal where it resulted in the poor things torture or death.
The fact that I eat meat doesn't mean I don't mind showing someone slitting a councious lamb's throat on tv where thildren are likely to see it.
Thankyou Miki. Couldn't have said it better myself. Seeing something like that as a kid would have scarred me for life. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but I just don't like it.

What is it with all the double negatives today?
Are you Grammar-Grimm today?
ha! a new iamcal character! ladies and gentleman...i give you (not) grammarrrrrrrr........grrrrrrrrrrrrrim!
depends how young the child is actually.
my family in jugoslavia always had animals, some for eating.
as western citykids my brother and I didn't always understand this.
when I was about 4 we were at my uncles and they had someone come to slaughter some lambs, my parents were apparently discussing whether they should keep me away when I came skipping back to the house saying, "head off, leggs off and killed". I have no recollection whatsoever off this, i was obviously too young to understand what it meant (plus none of the proverbial screaming, they were definitely properly stunned first).
a couple of years later my favourite cousin had a white rabbit. he strung it up and killed it (for food, not sport). my brother, mother and I were horrified, it took me years to forgive him.
Bloody softees. Nobody complains when a fish gets hit on the head. Just cause it's all cuddly you go up in arms. Actually, if it was a goldfish people would be mental. Standards are fucked.

Not Grammer-Grim..., but I still have no idea what "but it doesn't mean that I don't think eating meat is wrong." means.
Sul: Agree with you 100%.
Not just because it's cuddly. I don't think crocs are cuddly, but I don't want them turned into handbags and shoes either. Oh, yes and sharks : sharks aren't cuddly but I HATE that the Chinese cut their fins off! (Yes, I am a softie.)
Sul, you're a big softie too, i know it, you just won't admit it on here.

Ever used Flea powder? Swatted a fly, perhaps? De-liced a childs head?
Well, I don't eat meat... but I do think it's a bit ridiculous how people are fine about eating sheeps when they'd get well squeamish about eating dog. If I ever ate meat again I'd blatantly try dog.
That cute little one on your blog? Daisy I think? You'd not eat her, surely?

I don't eat lamb. It's mingin.'
Grim, it's deloused, not de-liced.
I'm not keen on lamb chops.

And pigs eat their own poo, so you shouldn't eat pork either.
a pomeranian? blatantly the quail of dog cookery.
