I interpret that to mean you're signing up to googlemail.com but yourcrapname@gmail.com will still work.

I certainly signed up a UK name after that cut off date. Obviously didnt read it that well but @gmail works fine.

Can someone confirm?

googlemail.com. i was sending myself invites from 3 of my gmail.com a/c's and all turned into googlemail.com on arrival.

Right - I can receive stuff sent to either gmail.com or googlemail.com - Also works for my login. At the top of my account it says googlemail.com. Sent stuff comes from googlemail.com.

If you want a pure gmail.com I'd sugget either letting Su there do you a favour or run the invite link through proxify.com.

No, that makes me a busy person. Actually, I couldn't think of a name I wanted so decided to leave it until I could think of a nice one. Then when my neighbour asked if he could format the drive, I forgot that I had the gmail accounts on the laptop instead of my desktop. So, yes, a bit of a dumb arse, but can I have some invites anyway? Can I have six? Me friends want accounts as well. Thanks Brock. 'preciate it.

safety tip with POP3 email: set it to "leave messages on server for 30 days" -- should be an option in your emailer's preferences. then if you lose a machine's config/files, as long as you check within 30 days you won't have lost the new emails -- they'll just re-download from the server

The guy in question did actually say that, but I find it unlikely he would say the exact same thing here, 5 weeks after he did so in a group on Flickr.

I very much appreciated his Maria Sharapova pictures, though. I've fancied her from around the time I should have felt guilty about it...
