Isn't it about time for some bling bling in your grill?

Sweet Sweet LEDs
Who can turn away from several volts of electricity pumping through a diode in a plastic case? We can't. In fact we get all giddy just thinking about LEDs. So we gathered 64 of them all in one place and stuck them in the very first place you'd look. The grill of a Mac G5.
Why?
There are some of you who will instantly understand why. And still others for which we fear there's no explanation. But we'll try anyway because that's the type of great folks we are. Seriously - why not have a bunch of LEDs in the front of your computer? Isn't it about time for some bling bling in your grill? Scratch that question - we mean to say: Because its fun.
G5 Bling will match your personality
"What can I do with it," we hear you ask. If looking at pretty lights isn't enough, then we're not quite sure. Someone out there will probably figure out how to get this thing to work as an awesome equalizer for iTunes and the guy down the hall from him will be content with a large static "A" to distinguish it from his machine next to it.... which he'll probably label "B". Whether your application is mildly practical or wildly impractical, G5 Bling can reflect your personality.
Community Driven
We're going to open this up to the world. We're taking care of the hardware and the firmware and all of the geeky mundane USB technical junk, but our libraries for how to drive the lights we're going to let you see and tinker with so developers can use them for their own applications. We foresee lights for email, LEDs for stock market conditions, icons, and Applescriptability galore.
I'm a code monkey!
You are? Well, while we all wait with dripping salivatory glands we propose an essay contest in which you can earn yourself one of our prototype boards.
1. Send to us an essay with what you could do with the board. Make it clear you have the tinkerer's spirit, wild ideas, and fancy skills to match. We're not looking for fancy English, we're looking for fancy light and code ideas.
2. If you fit the profile, we'll send you a prototype board, and you'll be a charter member of the most elite tinkerer group on the planet.
3. If fun coding and free bling aren't enough - the day we ship G5 Bling, one lucky member who got a proto board will also get $500 to spend in our WiebeTech store. We'll decide who wins based on ideas, code, and basically who blinks the lights the best.
Questions?
Send comments/questions to Justin. He'll figure something out.

You realise that
this thread was set up just for shit like this, right?
"News, fun links, etc." is what iamcal is mostly about, so seems a bit weird to try and put it all into one thread. At least having a different thread (or "topic" if you will) for each "topic" (if you will) means people can comment on that one thing rather than having to scroll down a massive list.
yeah. mere snippery goes well in that thread, i reckon, but proper thread starters warrant their own threads.

Hmm.
I don't recall ever playing Boyz II Men at a disco.
Possibly Hanson (but not that one).
You love it.
On the same topic. Don't type Boys II Men into google image search with the filter off. :(
