Name a real star after someone you love...

Er... That's, like, so old. </californian>
And such a rip-off - it's only 'called' that in that companies records - it's not officially recognised or anything.

Ive got one of those in a pack around here somewhere. Drunken purchase.

Me too.

I thought it was rather sweet. You big damper, Grim... ;)

you know all those starchart labels that are all "NGK-1511" and "NGK-131455"? imagine if instead of "NGK" and so on as a prefix, they'd chosen "antidisestablishmentarianism"? how big would the bloody star maps have to be? and how many unfit out-of-breath astronomers would have to give up on registering all their exciting finds?
Posted by Grim..., around 20th March 2006:

That's a pathetic word. You want at least 'floccinaucinihilipilification', or the handy lung disease 'pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis'.
Get some of that, astronomers!

"astronomers announced today that they had no longer discovered the sun"

ah the present to buy for someone when you really dont know them very well at all.

steve gave me one of those stars
but he also gave me a telescope to go with it :)

heh, edit - the present to buy for someone when you really dont know them very well at all, unless they happen to be interested in that sort of thing, in which case you do know them very well.
some friends bought me one for my birthday.. i'd rather have had a cd or dvd... not that i'm ungrateful or anything.

Yeah, my aunt and uncle bought my family a bee hive for Christmas. I was so excited until it turned out it was in the bloody third world. I want my bee hive!

Saying that, I'm going to get my revenge next Christmas and get them a real bee hive. Ha.
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, around 20th March 2006:

but with fake bees! then when their simple joy turns to consternation when they take the lid off and are not stung to death, you can leap out and shout: "FAKE!"

Dear god. The world's a twisted place.

Salty adds that extra little twist.

A twist of salt! We used to get those in Smith's Crisps when I were a nipper.
Posted by Grim..., around 21st March 2006:

Wow, I remember them.
And later they had little packets of 'cheese and onion' flavor, that you could pour over just one crisp and blow your mouth off.

Ahh, childhood =]
