Never mind The Thick of It and Help. The man wrote for The Muppet Show ffs!!!1
Though The Thick of It is bloody good.
I hope, at the very worse, he was doing a Townshend and only 'researching' rather than having a shuffle to the stuff.

that's what he tells the kids, anyway

It's funny how that 'book' that Townshend was 'researching for' never materialised....
But the pigs nicked all his 'research'. I doubt they said "Alright, Pete, here's your Hard Disk back. Good luck with that book."
err, i thought townshend was working with some children charity vs child porn. not a book.
that whole Operation Ore thing is horrifically fucked. a witch hunt looking for a witch hunt, all for the very best politically correct career-enhancing reasons. i read a few investigations into it a year or so ago. literally spinechilling. eg, couple of chaps got jailed because a porn site they looked at, briefly had one link to one child porn site, buried deep inside a special-access paying-only area, on just one of a number of long linklists. the prosecutors swore in court that it was the first and primary link on the front page (& with no password access) and so therefore he was downloading kiddie porn. the screenshots they presented were _visibly_ modified. the website owner found out what was being claimed and he objected so strongly (he'd actually taken down the link as soon as he found out it was kiddie) that he voluntarily approached the court and submitted all his archives, demonstrating this was not the case. too late for them, they went down (appealing at the time i was reading the articles).
but stop and think about that: the prosecution was caught out DELIBERATELY falsifying evidence, to convict someone of something that would destroy their life irrevocably.
that's just one i can remember, the journos listed off dozens where the obviousness was painful.
spinechilling.
