Do you all know the football riddle?

Three guys go into a football shop. They want to buy a football. The football costs R25. They each give the cashier R10. He doesn't have the correct change, so they agree he can give them each R1 change and keep R2 as a tip, which he does. This means they have each paid R9 for the ball. R9 x 3 = R27 + R2 (tip) = R29. What happened to the other R1?
Posted by Grim..., around 5th June 2006:

Nothing.
If you do the maths correctly, it's R25 + R3 + R2.
Posted by Sul_DUPE1, around 5th June 2006:

They paid R9 each for the ball AND the tip together. So R9 X 3 = R27 + R3 (change) = R30.
Posted by Sul_DUPE1, around 5th June 2006:

And why the R's? Rupees? Is this the real riddle?
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, around 5th June 2006:

'R' is for 'Riddle money'

it's like in the Abba song:
"somethingsomething
If I had a riddle money...
it's a rich man's world"
