Morning Syl. Scaldingly hot in Brighton. I imagine if I wasn't wearing shoes I would burn my feet on the pavement. No-one else in the office yet. Windows open. Cup of tea. Plus I've been carrying my music stand about all morning. Weekend was okay. Got foolishy drunk yesterday by mistake and woke up and all my clothes are covered in turmeric. Went to the Brighton Hip Hop festival on Saturday. Sorely disappointed by the state of Brighton's hip hop scene. My house is a mess and my housemates are getting back today and I meant to tidy it. (Instead got foolishly drunk and covered in turmeric). Alas. There is blue cheese everywhere.
Oh. Did you find my signed copy of the SV? If not, can you sign another for me? Ta. You were trying to cook a curry again, weren't you? I did ask that you never attempt this without my help. *tut*
I wish I was in Brighton. Gosh, you are lucky Salman.
I've got a copy of Midnight's Children you can have, slightly foxed and it's got a dash of garam masala on page 44.
I need a back, shoulder and neck rub
I think you're more likely to get signed novels than massages off novelists-in-hiding.
Unless they're Anne Frank.

My week-end was fairly laid back. Got me hair cut first thing on Saturday, had brekky in the garden under the shade of the big tree, before it got too hot. Watched a seagull riding a thermal in an almost cloudless sky for a few mins until it got enough height to sail away. Got the big shop out of the way around lunch time. Asda was surprisingly quiet. Spent a large chunk of the rest of Saturday lazing in the garden.
Had to pop in to the office first thing Sunday morning to empty the water reservoirs in the temporary air con units in the server room, brekky in the garden again and watched a flock of swallows mobbing a kestrel for a few mins until it got the message and buggered off. Did a bit of weeding. Spent the rest of Sunday either lazing in the garden or in the cool of the house when it got too hot, except for having to go to attend to the air con units again after tea.
Had to go out at about 1am today as there was a noisy cat fight going on somewhere close by, and though Fudge might be involved as he was not in the house. He might have been slugging it out, but by the time I got outside the yowling was some distance away and I never actually saw them. After a few minutes of quiet Fudge came nonchalantly down the drive behind me as if he was entirely innocent, but I know he fibs about these things. Anyroadup, I was able to grab him and put him to bed so he couldn't be dragged into any more fisticuffs.

That's nice, war. Do you ever go for a "Wimpy" breakfast? What is your equivalent of a Wimpy?
They still have a few Wimpys in the UK, but they're few and far between. I nearly went to Brighton Wimpy the other day, actually. Never been there. Not sure if they have much of a vegetarian option, to be honest...
I was a veggie for 8 years and my sister is still a veggie. She always makes up her own breakfast, so on Sunday I decided to have what she was having. Two slices of toast with a slice of cheese, mushroom sauce and an egg on each and a large chips*. Are you veggie or a vegan, Doc?
*i added a hashbrown and a portion of mushrooms (oink)
Just a veggie.. I think I'd waste away if it wasn't for the copious amounts of cheese I eat. Sounds like a pretty good breakfast. If I have time (and ingredients) I love mushrooms and scrambled eggs on toasts for breakfast. My breakfast this morning was a disasterous boiled egg (much too soft-boiled.. I tried to open it and mostly-raw-egg splashed all over the kitchen) and a spoonful of marmalade. I really ought to buy some food.
hehe
How long haven't you eaten meat?

I think the last time I went to a Wimpy (about 20 years ago) I was so disgusted with the awful coffee that I swore I'd never go to one again. Maybe they've improved since then. I
hope they've improved since then.
Yeah? Well I just bought an NDS lite. So ner!
Is it a wimpy in the (London) Trocedero bowling alley? In which case I had a Wimpy about 3 years ago. If not then its about 18 years since I've had a Wimpy. I never tried the coffee on either occassion, I'm sorry to say.
my dad worked in the first ever wimpy bar in the uk.
i remember the food came on real china plates (apparently).
So the bad coffee is your dad's fault? Is that what you're saying? You're an awful daughter, grass!
Oh and the china plates, apparent or not, do not make it any better, grass!
The food still comes on real china plates, by all accounts. That's what makes Wimpy classier than any of its competitors.
Syl; about five years. But I have accidentally eaten (in that time)
- half a meaty spring roll
- bite of a ham sandwich
- bite of pizza with cunningly disguised pepperoni beneath the cheese
- packet of crisps containing "pork powder"
and a hell of a lot of gelatine.
