why the sad face?
hooray for stockmarket crashes! :D
(I'm making a killing from my reinforced umbrellas to protect London folk from bankers jumping from skyscrapers.)

WarHead, around 30th October 2008:
You could double that by producing professionally printed versions of this.
Posted by
che, around 30th October 2008:
I could have that printed on the umbrellas

nothing says "Autumn" quite like the steady rain of brightly coloured bankers sifting down out of the sky and piling up in drifts on the sidewalk

[laughs] I wonder when the market will recover? Soon I hope. I was hoping Obama's win would effect the market positively, but alas.

CRASH CRASH CRASH Whoooo Hooo!!!!
Give it another 18 months and we can afford a house!
ROCK!
actually that would make a fantastic flash game
"Bounce Gordon Brown, the struggling prime minister, over the pitfalls of the economy - nationalise the banks! thwart your opponents! win a by-election!"

house prices here are finally going back in the right direction (ie DOWN DOWN DOWN!!!)
was getting annoyed with all the measures to try and keep them inflated.
perhaps this time after another 18 months we might really be able to buy a house!
of course me quitting my job probably doesn't help from a money point of view
but then i'd rather be happy than rich :)

house prices here are finally going back in the right direction
Or the wrong direction, depending on your circumstances, of course.
Posted by
che, around September 2010:
Actually they are only the "wrong" direction for a small percentage of people - mainly people who are looking to downsize. For first time buyers lower = better. For people looking to upgrade lower = better because if say houses went down 20%, although your £200K place just lost £40K, the £300K house you want to buy just lost £60K so you are £20K up on the deal. (I know that's a gross simplification) and then if you have a house and have no desire to move for a while, it doesn't matter at all. Of course the people who feel hard done by are the ones who bought around 2006-2008 (ie peak) but as long as they are happy where they are it shouldn't matter.

che, around October 2010:
of course the other people in trouble are those who re-mortgaged their house to buy a nice car or fund an extravagant lifestyle; they've racked up debt on an asset that isn't worth what they thought it was. oops!

and yes syl it was. :)
but now I'm happy.
