Meh! Surf Control has informed the Network Nazis that I've tried to access a banned site. This may be the last time you hear from me.

oooooo
good for cal and grim, i'm thinking:

google.com/codesearch

Google has created a specialised search engine designed to find software source code publicly available on the web.

Codesearch aims to help professional programmers, hobbyist developers and code enthusiasts find source code online, a Google official said.

Currently, the general web search engine Google.com can find links to files with source code, but it doesn't index the actual lines of code in those files, said Tom Stocky, a Google product manager. In those cases, developers need to download the files to their computers and inspect the code.

However, the new search engine has been built to crawl more deeply and return results containing actual snippets of code, which should make the finding process simpler, Stocky said. "We find the lines that match your query," he said.

The search results link to the full file containing the highlighted code, as well as to the software license governing the use of the code, which in most cases will be open source, he said. Developers can enter keywords or fuller patterns in the search box.

Google also plans to release an application programming interface for the search engine, so external developers can tap into it. For now, the company doesn't plan to display ads along with search results, he said.

The decision to build this code search engine stems from Google's desire to help external developers, who it considers essential to the process of improving its online services, like its maps search, and extending their popularity, he said.

This guy intrigues me. It seems he has little more than a few parlour tricks and some worn-out old tru-isms. How does he manage to get 20 million followers wolrdwide? He must teach me this!

graphics geeks might find this impressive:

imagine that level of intelligent haptic interface, in combination with a holographic 3D screen

designers could model with their fingertips

From Syl's kink
The film depicts a group called the Science and Rationalists' Association of India [SRAI] as they travel throughout India debunking and exposing as frauds local fakirs, godmen and godwomen.

If these people DEbunk things, how does one bunk something?

Without reading anything from the last week:

It's a good point, WH. Perhaps bunk is a holding area though. I cry "bunk" to something I think ridiculous. That doesn't make my opinion true (unless I'm Salty ;) hehe). So perhaps its only "bunk" until it has been DEbunked and thus proved crap.

i thought they meant they were rolling them out of bed and then stripping their pyjamas off them, as part of the whole exposure/humiliation process

my old uni doing a parody of The March of the Penguins:

dunno when they turned the union common room into a pub tho -- used to be the Rec Club about 50 yards to the right of the door, with the balcony looking over the barbie area and the ovals and swimming pool to the river

oh, and the "Ree!" is a reference to The R.E.: The Royal Exchange pub, first and landmark boozer on your way into town, and the standard starting point for uni Pub Crawls

That's ace. I particularly liked the notable change in tone for the doppler effect as it passed the side areas.

Someone has a lot of time on their hands. But I guess at an Antarctic station, you are stuck with reading/television/fucking about with a video camera, pretty much.

That HAS to be a wind up! I smell crafty marketing at play.
