Anyone want to discuss New Years resolutions? I know it's crap, but we're not exactly brimming with topics lately ;)
I'm back at work and need the distraction to avoid being driven to distraction...
Um :
I've got the usual "eat less, excercise more" one
Read two books per month : one fiction/one non-fiction
Start Yoga *groan*
Painting lessons (do more peices) and photography lessons
Find a partner or at least a sprem donor (see blog) EEP!
Less internet usage (giving up B3ta - it's a VERY BAD HABIT)
Find something to study as I've given up on accounting. I CANNOT STUDY IT. IT'S TOO BORING.
What about you? What do you want to achieve this year?

I beg your pardon?
You'd like to earn 1,310,720 pounds this year?

Personally I'd prefer 1920 by 1200 on a Del 24" but unless Dell's resolution is to cut their prices by 90%, I fear I may be disappointed.

What can I do though? Waiting for Prince Charming has resulted in being fat, almost-forty and childless. Very :(

I have the same resolution every year, i.e. not to make any New Year Resolutions, but for some strange reason I always fail to achieve it.
Posted by
syl, 3rd January 2007:
Ah, so what have you resolved to do this year?
Posted by
WarHead, 3rd January 2007:
Not to make any New Year Resolutions.
Damn, failed again already.

Is that a king sized fitted sheet?
Brilliant. I was just coaxing the last minute of my 50p at the Internet Cafe, and the person next to me just left, leaving a massive 12 minutes more! Excellent.
My New Years Revolutions:
1. Give up smoking by 2008 (realistic)
2. Finish my book "City Boy in Blind Spot Trauma", make copies, send to publishers / flog on the streets of Brighton for £3 each.
3. Get a slighly more real job / become performance artist / make money from poetry.
4. Wear a bee beard.
New Years was ace, we went to the gale and storm-stricken Edinburgh and stumbled around this fine city hallucinating gently. Christmas was also splendid, and was the final point in the eating binge I seem to have embarked on since mid-November. I think devouring a massive block of stilton after Christmas Dinner finally did it, and I've been eating nothing but toast and oranges ever since.
Anyway, only seven minutes to go, but I hope you're all well...

Sheesh. I've changed a lot since 2007.

Happy new year you grumpy old fart. How was your holiday time? I bet March can't come soon enough. I bet you can't wait to get out of there, eh?
Posted by
WarHead, around 10th January 2011:
MARCH!111. Never mind March, my last day of work at the old place will be NEXT TUESDAY (i.e. 18 January 2011). This is because I got approval to take early retirement at the end of January, but as I have 9 days leave owing to me, I'm finishing before that. And I start my new job on 1 February.

Sul, around January 2011:
Vegan, Syl? Are you mad? We all know you lurve the meat sausage ;)
Warhead - congrats on retiring early. What are you going to be doing with your new found ti... oh... working. Have you got a dictionary? I think you need to look something up.

WarHead, around January 2011:
Ah, I see what you mean. Well, I am leaving the civil service under an early retirement scheme, so how else would I describe it? This means I am re-entering the 'real' world before state retirement age and therefore need to continue working as my civil service pension is not the pot of gold that the press are so fond of quoting as being the reward for retiring civil servants.

syl, around January 2011:
I do lurve the sausage, but now I have soya ones! Hahahahaaaa!
Warhead, that is so cool. All the very very best for your new job! Yay! It may not be a pot of gold, but you can invest it wisely and live on the interest?

WarHead, around January 2011:
If I could live on about thirty quid a week, maybe. But I won't be doing that, I'll be paying off the mortgage and clearing my other debts. With what's left, I might go on a bender.
Posted by
syl, around January 2011:

don't be silly, syl. i was there for the '74 floods, which were over a metre higher. we just got on with it.
this current hysteria is just the public posturings of the utterly-different non-"australian" culture that is the south-east of australia. the locals are just a bit annoyed.
