NTL is OK when it's working and pants when it's not.
Couldn't get into the net from home last night, or this morning, despite having rebooted my STB several times. TV's working OK though. My neighbour, who's also on NTL, couldn't get net access last night or this morning. I tried looking at their service status page at work this morning and it only mentioned that their home page was not available as the new Virgin page is being prepared and there was another fault with some channels in some areas.
Their website takes you round in circles in lots of places and when I finally decided to ring them for info, after having been taken through their 'Press 1 to completely waste your time' options there was eventually a message that they have a major fault in my area of the city.
Why do they make it so damn hard to find this info, and why doesn't their service status page actually tell you about outages?
/end rant
ntl's website is an awesome example of how to provide reams of data and information in a rigorous top-down yet hyperlinked fashion, ticking all the PRINCE2 boxes, without ever answering any of the questions or needs of the reader

What the fuck? Talk about trying to skim over the entire nastiness of it. The 'help'?
You mean the slave that he kept as a piece of property, and there's every chance was coerced (or at least intimidated) into having sex with her 'master'?
I'd hate to jump to the 'rape' conclusion, but it certainly raises it's head as an outside possibility, given the perceived worth of the slaves as 'people' at the time...

Preston has a
hissy fit and walks out of Never Mind The Buzzcocks when Simon Amstell reads passages from Chantelle's book.
This is even better than last week when Donny Tourette tried to match wit with Bill Bailey and looked like a complete twat, and
didn't notice when Simon took the piss out of his poor record sales.
I was looking forward to tonight's show. Bill's last quip was brilliant. I'd paraphrase it but I don't think it'd work without seeing the whole thing. I'm pretty sure the BBC2 site streams the lastest broadcast Buzzcocks show to at least British viewers. I'd say watch the whole thing to those that can. Best one of the new series so far I think. Oh and it has Madge from Neighbours.

Very funny.
I wonder if in the UK version of Vista, parenthesis are called brackets by default or if it goes to square brackets.

(GREAT music/animation match, btw -- "turn it up")
i tend to say "open brackets" rather than "open parenthesis" just for the simple human fact of the latter being a clumsy slow pain to say.
brackets, square ~, and curly ~. easy.
