Now don't take it personally, but i'm about to slag you all off individually because this used to be a brilliant site before you stopped shouting at us.

Saltation - Is a whore
Sul - Likes the same sex
Grim - Is disgustingly overweight
Doctor Lucid - Nah, i quite like him
Brock - Got his account hacked by me a couple of years back, what kind of password is 'Iamcal'?
Scrybl - Enjoys goat erotica
Miki - Is a Nazi
Emma - Sleeps with the whole gang everynight

And you're all amazingly geeky, but i have to admit, you guys have a wicked sense of humour. 'Cookie' instead of 'Cooking'!

Sorry if i missed anyone out

missed me out. but i agree, you are all whores.
Posted by Alfie_DUPE1, 14th February 2007:

what about me?
:(

You appear to have lost your edge.

That wasn't my password a couple of years back, fuck-knuckles, so you LIE!!!!!!!!1111111

In fact, I think my password on the old site was "Desmond is a donkey-raping shit-eater".
Posted by WarHead, 14th February 2007:

That certainly sounds like the kind of password you'd use.
Posted by scrybl, 14th February 2007:

Oh boy! Goats! You're surprisingly accurate, because I would like to lick Goatworrier from B3ta. Well done!
Posted by Desmond, 14th February 2007:

it's no fun if you agree with me.
and 'fuck-knuckles'? Brock really knows how to get to you
Posted by Desmond, 14th February 2007:

Well i managed to hack into your account using 'iamcal' as your password. And stop stealing your insults from south park
Posted by WarHead, 14th February 2007:

The thing is, the main 'shouters' don't visit here much, if at all, these days (Vic, for example, hasn't made an appearance for months, and Brock doesn't visit as often as he used to) so perhaps you need to go somewhere else to be abused.
Posted by Brock, 14th February 2007:

I visit as much as I used to, to be honest, mainly from nostalgia, but there is something 'missing' from here at the moment. So I tend to lurk. I was going to say 'lost from here', but I'm hoping it returns.

It's fucking arguments - that's what we haven't had enough of.

BROCK! A Bugatti Veyron has a higher top speed than an F1 car!
Posted by scrybl, 14th February 2007:

There are three things missing : 1.Cal 2.Vic 3.Insults
Posted by RedAndWhiteMan, 14th February 2007:

Make that two, baby!

P.S. I endorse this thread.
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, 14th February 2007:

nah, pretty simple social dynamics.

previously: a hard core of frequent posters, with a very large cloud of very infrequent posters, plus good behaviour-control tools

the arguments & insults were the reason for iamcal1 being shut down.

iamcal2: hard core only, reduced by attrition, below critical mass, without any useful behaviour-control tools (except for direct deus ex machina SQL hacking of the db by cal), then the just-reburgeoning newcomers were all locked out for an extended time.

this is iamcal 8 9 or 10 I think.

Where have you been? ;)
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, 15th February 2007:

over here, in a box

perhaps i should have said "PreCataclysm" and "PostCataclysm"
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, 15th February 2007:

post-apoCalypse?
Posted by Sul_DUPE1, 15th February 2007:

No. Dont use that. It's awful. ;)

We're on Version 10. I was going to claim to be all-knowing but I asked because I didnt think it was that high. I was wrong. Past snapshots here:

www.iamcal.com/misc/v1
through
www.iamcal.com/misc/v9

I noticed I have my name in a thread-title on the v3 but then I also noticed this blast from the past in the blog there too:

I sent a letter to the BBC cult department:
On the Hitchhikers Guide "Guide Quiz", question 5 ("Why might you not recognise a Hagguenenon twice?"), the answer should be "evolve" rather than "mutate". I feel this is quite important, as Hagguenenons are hyper-evolutionary beings, not just genetically unstable :)
And within exactly 20 minutes i got this nice reply:
You are, of course, right. You are so right, I think I'll go and wash my head in that bucket of water over there.
If only all media organisations were so fast and friendly. And yes, i'm a walking Douglas Adams dictionary.

Nice.

version 7 is the one I miss.

the title on that page is

"i'll show you my aladdin if you show me your pocahontas"

those were the days...

from V2:

"I was thinking the other day (not something i encourage :D) about what people i know will be like in 10-20 years. See if you can answer these questions too (answers in the forum):

Who is not going to have a job, and be living off their parents: Paul 'Warren' Wright "

Paul was my housemate for 2 years at uni and I'd have to agree.

Wonder how he is getting along these days?

Cal, in V1

"ALL ABOUT YOU
Tell me about yourself. Tell me something really intresting. Tell me your email address:"

Is that paraphrasing You Dont Know Jack?

:D
Posted by Saltation_DUPE1, 15th February 2007:

i think i first iamcalled when the strapline was "everyone should have big lips for a day". v7 or v8? early 2004. but the stepchange was post-cataclysm, when cal decided to rewrite from scratch rather than tweak the existing code, like the preceding versions.

looking at the older versions' snapshotted frontpages, i like the "From the "things i made this week" department: " link to

The Ikea Game

i feel the urge to insert tab A in slot B...

ooo. from cal in 2000:
"sometimes this is the case, but flash IS printable (upgrade your plugin -and read the white paper it's far MORE printable than an HTML page)"
It's printable as long as you upgrade? I don't remember having to get the latest browser to be able to print. And what about users who have an older version. Do we just assume they will upgrade?

i had a rant almost identical re the BBC not so long ago. only theirs is even more fundamental: you can't even VIEW content in their AWESOMELY complex layout (800x600 textlinklist-bordered cards of text) in non-currentupdate browsers.

le plus ce futre change

I miss the straplines and how exciting it was when one's comments became the next strapline.
*sigh*

that was good

kewl

(..."Big Hug" seems kinda cheap compared to "Smile!", game-balance wise?)
Posted by Desmond, 15th February 2007:

i vote we get an iamcal 2, full of insults and straplines and nothing else
