"maybe one day fat people will be lynched?"

Depends on how strong the rope is.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Diets do not work. The best way to loose weight it to watch what you eat, eat smaller portions and exercise.

HARPOONED, THEN

yes I am fat
I don't like being blamed for all the troubles in the world, I am a nice person :(
Posted by beargod_DUPE1, around May 2008:

I am huge, I am at the top of the obesity block on a bmi, I blame food being nice, I wish I was poor so I could not afford food

I think actually 99% of the world's ills are down to "Oboesity". That's where more and more of the world's resources are used to build oboes and more and more sound pollution is caused by people playing the oboe (Which sounds horrible).

awesomely bad "research", that. from the same mag/club-organ that tried to dismiss the research of the guy who discovered the body's mechanism for controlling blood pressure because it conflicted with their beliefs, and which still insists eating cholesterol damages blood cholesterol, regardless of all those OUTRAGEOUS facts and research.

this article's "research" is not research: it's just a series of extrapolations ("calculations") on assumptions, and the assumptions are false.
eg, fat people burn LESS calories than skinny people, not more. usually because they eat worse/less.

[excepting overeating] eating sugar causes fat, not eating fat. eat loads of (good) meat and fat (without tongue-modifiers like sugar and salt (pork is high-sugar, by the way. so, bacon...)) and watch the pounds melt away as you eat what you're evolved for and the body's natural mechanisms shut down your hunger. this is not new -- google the 19thC "Banting Diet". note it wasn't his invention but merely the advice of his doctor based on common knowledge at the time. note he ate better than most fat people today even while he was shedding weight. how many people do you know who start their day with lamb chops for breakfast?

the "native" diets that result in the world's stand-out lowest "cholesterol" and longest lifespans have effectively no vegetables and are either meat+blood or, for the longest lifespan, are 75% fat (blubber) and 25% meat.

cutting sugar also reduces "cholesterol" and PCOS -- both as insulin-driven as obesity. the biggest impactors on cholesterol (as effective as statins) all affect the insulin pathway -- funny that.

chronic overindulgence in beer eventually gives you a beer gut. but beer has 0% fat. funny that.

i'm speaking here as someone who ate 6,000+ calories a day while maintaining 3% body fat for 15 years. then i came to england, where EVERYTHING is drenched in sugar... up to about 15% now.

che: i think you have the essence of it there: oboesity.

all these people blowing too hard into wind instruments, and puffing up like balloons as a result.
Posted by Saltation, around May 2008:

bassoon <=> balloon

coincidence?

I THINK NOT!
Posted by che, around May 2008:

I blame inflation
Posted by beargod_DUPE1, around May 2008:

I played a trumpet though, OK I also played a cornet, but no ice cream was involved honest
Posted by Saltation, around May 2008:

since i stopped living on a diet of mainly crisps, chocolate bars and overcooked dinners (ie living at home) and started eating more veg, i have put on weight. granted i've got ill a lot less but it's costing me a fortune in new clothes.

more crisps, less veg!
Posted by WarHead, around May 2008:

Crisps are spuds and spuds are vegetables. What's your problem?
Posted by jeffry, around May 2008:

hmm how about 'more overly processed food, less fresh veg'?
Posted by Saltation, around May 2008:

snappy!
Posted by che, around May 2008:

if i worked for the fish marketing board (is there such a thing?)
I'd suggest the slogan "less crap, more carp".

Although I guess then I would be sacked from the fish marketing board for not trying hard enough (and for not eating fish).
Posted by Miki, around May 2008:

what are you on about
their slogan is 'fish for che'

hhmm that's given me a good idea for a wedding present...
Posted by che, around May 2008:

:(
Posted by Saltation, around May 2008:

cheer up, che. at least you'll be able to validly and loudly say, without fear of social repercussions: "this is CARP!"
Posted by beargod_DUPE1, around May 2008:

I'm sorry che but the whole carp thing would not pass anyway, you cannot but carp to eat, and when you fish it you have to throw it back
Posted by che, around May 2008:

Me no speeky Beergoadian.

Wow. Listening to Beargod and Saltation communicate is a bit like listening to the ticking of one of those clocks where a different man pops his head out depending on the weather
