It's a lot harder to accidentally find oneself on iamca via google than it used to be. And all I wanted to do was look at some riddles.
Just wondering, because I was going to tell a story of mistaken identity and the like, but as it involves a legal threat made towards me I thought it'd be best to check - I will of course change names to protect the innocent, and I don't think the legal case would ever stand up... but it's worth checking!

Google knows way too much about me. I always like the first one this finds though:

try putting
site:iamcal.com
in the google search box, before the text you're trying to find. this will restrict the query to only searching iamcal.
Let's have a try:
lubbocklubbockappleintheass1110
www.google.co.uk/search?q=l...
Your search - lubbocklubbockappleintheass1110 - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
* Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
* Try different keywords.
* Try more general keywords.
Hell yeah!

Google doesn't like B3ta either.

Doc, apparently it takes a day or two for stuff to show up on google. I see the B3ta one is now showing, but still not the iamcal one.

Sal: That's interesting - but seems to mean my avoiding search engine may still be working...
On that note; here's the story. So you know one of the people I like to call myself is Luucy Rcord? Well, that's been a pseudonym I've used for about eight years - and in the passage of time, I'd forgotten that Lcucy was actually a real person - and the thumbnail I use for her was actually a picture of her. It's some random picture we downloaded back in the early days of the iinternet... but as I've always used it as a pseudonym, I didn't think there would be anything different with using it to set up a faceboke account - except of course what started happening is all her old friends started getting in touch with me! This all seemed like fun until, well, the inevitable happened. I started getting various messages from the Rceord family as someone was impersonating L.R. Sugar! They were threatening legal action - but in the end faceboke removed the profile, so I think all's well... I'm just hoping they're not going to leap to the conclusion that someone may have been impersonating her any more than that and start chasing down all the other Lcucy Rceords... on the plus side, I'm probably the last person they may suspect!
oops. Ah well, hopefully that's the end of that chapter ... but not an ideal situation to get legal threats about. Anyone know about the legal status of this?

I don't know, sorry Doc. What about people who have the same name? You can't claim rights to a name surely? I mean, John Smith? There must be millions.
I think it was the name combined with the picture that caused the problems!

Haha! Yes, I guess so.
www.google.co.uk/search?hl=...
works a treat now
but i note from using just "lubbock" that google is now being parsimonious on matches: it doesn't pick up lubbocklubbocketc, which it once would have done. neither is any wildcard supported: you can't search on lubbock*, for example.
possibly an unlooked-for artefact of the stemword functionality? (which is otherwise somewhere b/w nifty and awesome)
can't think of any way round this. implies you now have to be precise in your memory of particular search terms.

Is this now the death of Loosey Record? I didn't think anything could kill a Doc alter-ego. I feel saddened.

It's ok. We can re-christen her Loosey Rekord.
Hmmm... we shall see. Nothing can kill an alter-ego for long ... and I'm sure she shall return. Although possibly not on Faceboke...
