ok so i went to upload a large chunk of photos to flickr for the first time in god knows how long, and on a new machine. so i downloaded the flickr uploadr and installd it on this machn.

it asks me to sigen in so i strok my beared and puff my pipe and ruminatively acquiesce. sorry: am all acquiescn.

i do the via-browser sigening-ien stuff, and go back to the uploadr. aned lo! it asks me sign in. agai(e)n.

i go thru 3 rounds of this, without any change in behaviouer to be absolutely sure i'm not missing anything obvious (all cookies accepted on that browser btw, via the "accept without murmur (beeatch)" checkbox option). had a bit of a play with the Options inter alia: no obvious joy.

so i think maybe the uploadr had an installation problem, discover there's no un-install option, so try installing again, and discover it (sensibly, in retrospect) doesn't clear previous installs' data when it pre-loads the previous install's N (notyet)uploaded photos' queue and... asks me to sign in. again.
3 iterations later: confirmed: no change.

am i missing something obvious?

(this current box = winXPsp3, used Flock2.5 for signin-auth'n)

Hmmmm.

I've found I can't change permissions without a new user appearing, but I've not had that issue with the Uploadr. You generally start as an unsigned in user, and it sends you to the site when you try and do something to 'allow' the uploadr. You'll get sent to a flickr page that has a large "YES, I'LL ALLOW IT" button and then you go back and all is well. If you're not getting this, that's odd. I'd have said cookies, if you hadn't already checked that.

Mind you, you sound hammered, from your typing, so maybe all the boxes are blurrrrrrrrrred?

HOWEVER, I much prefer this to upload with as it behaves itself more than the standard app - which is really buggy considering the quality of the rest of the Flickr stuff. It doesn't do videos, but it kicks the arse of the Flickr one.

I'm signed in, but also have trouble changeing users. I have Steves details so when I click "switch user" I can choose his details and press OK, but like salti describes, nothing happens.
I then get the uploader screen saying no-one is signed in ("you're working off-line").
When I then press sign-in it does what it's supposed to do, but for my own account. It goes to the flickr page for my account and does the allow-it thing.
In previous versions this did work correctly.

But like you said there are plenty of other things wrong with the uploader, so thanks for the other uploading thing and I'll give that a try.

Cal >>>>> go back to Flickr

I uploaded 6 pictures last night and afterwards noticed that the uploader had uploaded 4 of them at least 3 times each. Smooth.

You're still uploading photos to Flickr???? I didn't think anyone did that these days.

I might be old school Mr Warhead, but I love flickr :D
yep, uploading 2 or 3 times and breaking off uploads are some of the most annoying uploadr bugs
I hope they release a new one soon, or maybe brocks gadget will work out

That was just a tiny jokette because very few folk from iamcal seem to be posting many photos these days, including me.

WH: if you know of another worthwhile alternative i'd be glad to find out. although irritatingly, knowing that i had a chunk to upload and having never had problems before (admittedly quite a long time ago) i (now in a position to) had preemptively signed up to an unrestricted full membership. "imagine my surprise" etc

i'll have a crack at your suggested alternative uploader tomorrowish, brock

what would the 12 step program for photography be like?
Posted by che, around June 2009:

I imagine each week you would have to trade in your camera for a worse one and a smaller memory card, then you would end up with one of those free mini cameras they gave away with rolls of film years ago, and then the last week you just get a pencil and some paper.

Or you could just take things one step at a time and see what develops
