I finally finished reading The Meme Machine by Susan Blackmore. It's a really great book, but specifically the end is amazing. I'm thinking about the world in a whole new way.

I preferred Dawkins' "The Blind Watchmaker" which, I believe, introduces the word & concept of meme.
My current favourite is Landers "Wealth & Poverty of Nations". Not about memes at all, though... :-)

I'm reading dawkins' "the selfish gene", in which he mentions meme (about 15 years before the blind watchmaker :p)
